I also dislike that and although it may have worked this game, there will come a time when he does that and has no bench left and a player will get injured later in the game, Then he'll have to put a pitcher into a player's position or a player WAY OUT of position (e.g. a catcher in LF). Or Buxton in CF?

I'm not a huge conspiracy theory person, but I would buy any theory on what Kepler has on the FO and Rocco. He has to have pics, or video, or financial papers of some terrible things they've done. No other explanation for this. CRF 1

But did it work today? AK and Julien made outs and the replacements have just been OK. The rest of the lineup is what is working today. Agree though we may see a pitcher in left field if they keep this up. RpR 1

Yours is a good point though. 59 minutes ago, Jocko87 said: Yeah but its a 26 yo making his debut. They should still do that with AK and Julien. I'd rather see them get looks against lefties here. All but the most elite LHB are pretty garbage against lefty pitching so I don’t get too worked up about reps. Cade Richardson, Jocko87 and wsnydes 3

My bigger problem is who they pinch hit for. Quit taking out your hoped for future/newly current core! Take out Kepler or Castro. Quit turning 2 guys you clearly want to be key parts of your team into platoon only hitters already. You should never have to pinch hit for the top 4 or 5 guys in your lineup if you're truly a contending team. They continually hit for 2 of those guys. I hate it. I agree in the sense that Max Kepler shouldn’t be on the roster, much less in the lineup. chpettit19, Danchat, CRF and 2 others 4 1

True but the advantage gained here is roughly the same as the advantage gained by the reps. The time those reps come in handy will be later in the season with no PH options. I want them to have at least seen a lefty in the last few months. chpettit19 1
Danchat Verified Member Posted June 22, 2023 Posted June 22, 2023 Dang, Ryan. He's gone into the 100s before, he should be given a shot to finish it out. It'd be pretty understandable if they wanted a reliever to finish it out, though. Mortimerkenny21 1
