I care more about the young guys, Julien and Kirilloff getting ABs against lefties.  What better opportunity than this?

Bruce Bochey is going to start an opener just to take them off the field.  It'd be worth it in a big game.

I can't comprehend any reasonable reason for these moves. Even if you think this arm is going the next 4 innings. Why purposefully handcuff yourself for later in the game? I get that big innings are often times the key to winning. It's why teams like the 3 run bomb. But depleting your entire bench in the 2nd inning is wild.

Insanity. It's 100% over managing.

My bigger concern is that it's 100% predictable managing at this point. How easy do you want to make it for the other manager to get the top of your lineup out of the game while simultaneously taking away all your counter moves late in the game?

I’m pretty iffy on these moves but I don’t hate them in this situation. This team could really use a game where they just bury the opponent in the first few innings and these moves made that more likely to happen.

Fair point, but I think the exposure to lefties for Julien and Kirilloff are more important in the long run.  Yours is a good point though.

It was 1' shorter than his 1st according to stat cast. Lol

Which is wild.  You just don't see many balls go to the part of the ballpark that 2nd one went.

On the other hand, it’s not like other strategies have been bringing the house down, so what the heck?

And we are up 5-0 ... not that that is a guarantee of anything, but ...

Yeah but its a 26 yo making his debut.  They should still do that with AK and Julien.  I'd rather see them get looks against lefties here.

I thought the same thing. I mean I concur. Sorry

When a team has become a sub-five hundred team, with the next team within spitting distance, you do not use your team as a quasi-AAA substitute.

On a positive note, I love watching Ryan when he's on.  Quick work up and down the lineup.

Love those positive notes!

@RpR, if you'd like to make a counterpoint to anything I've said, feel free!

I disagree with your point of view, simple as that.

Oh, I understand that.  I'm simply asking for the why.

Hope Gray is taking notes.

I honestly think that when Ryan is on, he has the pinpoint control that Gray just doesn't possess.  Which isn't a negative to Gray, but Ryan is becoming a damn good pitcher.

I agree. Gray wants to compete.  I get it. But on his last start he was at 93 pitches I think after 5. Whitlock had less pitches in the 7th. Him and Lopez always seem to have that 1 30+ pitch inning.
