Pinch hitting in the 2nd?  Something has to be wrong with Julien right?

You couldn't ever expect him to hit against a left handed pitcher under any circumstances whatsoever. Right?

I really hope a reporter asks Rocco for a super detailed explanation behind the reasoning for pinch hitting for your leadoff hitter in the 2nd inning.

Now, no AK too.  I get the platoon system, but pinch hitting in the 2nd inning is pretty ridiculous.

Radio indicates that that was the game plan with Boston going with an opener, to start swapping out the lefties.

Don't care, bad plan.

Did they indicate why?

Dang rookies need to be getting on base, vets can't do it all themselves. 🤣

That's what they get.  Go to your room and think about what you've not done.

I can't comprehend any reasonable reason for these moves. Even if you think this arm is going the next 4 innings. Why purposefully handcuff yourself for later in the game? I get that big innings are often times the key to winning. It's why teams like the 3 run bomb. But depleting your entire bench in the 2nd inning is wild.

Right.  I'd be more inclined to not worry about it in say the 5th, but the 2nd inning is shortsighted in my opinion.

Against a guy making his debut.  He happens to throw left handed but looks like the perfect chance to get some looks.  If the games get serious we are going to both lose our minds and not be able to always platoon.

Agreed.  I have no problem with playing the matchups, but wasting two players after 1 inning is just insane.

I care more about the young guys, Julien and Kirilloff, getting ABs against lefties.  What better opportunity than this?

On the other hand, it’s not like other strategies have been bringing the house down, so what the heck?

This is a fair point. But I still 100% disagree with this decision (for the 2nd time this year no less).
