there really isn't anything sacred about pitching the 9th inning. Tonight we had probably our best available pitcher facing the top of the KC lineup in the 9th, which is how it should be. Unfortunately, he picked tonight to be very shaky. But a win is a win.

If I am the Royals you have to be upset the way that all played out.  Still winning doesn't really benefit them as they have a ton of holes in the lineup and on the mound.  Still I don't love winning via umpire and yet we have been the screwed team more often than not so maybe this just helps even things out.  At any rate I just don't feel good about this one but we get the win anyway.

Yeah. However, lesser teams would have lost that. Think last year and if we had to call on Pagan in that situation? It was an ugly win, and maybe we didn’t deserve to win, but, last year we would have for sure lost that. So, ugly as it was, I also call it progress

Calls a breaking pitch...which splits the plate in half. 😶 Proceeds to do the exact thing with the next batter. A legion catcher would catch an earful for how Vazquez called that inning.
