Today, our Minnesota Twins (10-6) remain on the East Coast, travelling from Yankee Stadium to Fenway Park for a three-game set against the Boston Red Sox (8-9). Today, the Twins send RHP Sonny Gray to the mound. Gray has been exceptional in his first two starts, with a record of 2-0 and an ERA of 0.53 (!!). The recently struggling Twins offense will face off against struggling LHP Chris Sale, who is 1-1 with an 11.25 ERA.

Lineups TBA.

Win Twins!

If Buxton isn't dhing in a game, I'd like to see Jeffers DH. That's admittedly risky, but very unlikely to be an issue.

This team really needs to start hitting at some point....

I know Sale hasn't been the dominant Sale of old, but man.....the Twins have faced some very tough starting pitchers thus far in this young season.

With Buck struggling, I might consider have Jeffers DH instead.

How about bench Kepler, put Buxton back in CF, and move MAT over to RF?

I know Kepler has settled in as almost exclusively a right fielder in the last couple years. If part of his skill set ostensibly is being good at playing the RF wall in home games, though, I have to wonder whether they'd be better off with him in front of the Green Monster in Fenway rather than Garlick.

I'm about ready to admit that Buxton is never going to play more than half a season at an All-Star level. When he's  available and not striking out three times a game, put Buxton in the lineup, but don't count on him for anything. The Taylor signing makes lots of sense and I'm ready to move on.

Strikeouts
1.

Well Rocco,  the Buxton Plan  of Keeping him on the Field is Disingenuous,  Buck keeps striking out and when he does   Havent seen any stealing bases, and never in Center field,  At what point are Mgmt gonna say ,its not working, At least 2-3  games a week in c.f. and 1-2 at D.h. , its restricting to many options regarding , the Bench and the D.h. role,   And all we hear is  ??      Go Twins !!!!

1.    Olson • ATL    27
2.    Yelich • MIL    26
3.    Chisholm • MIA    25
4.    Melendez • KCR    24
Martinez • LAD    24
Buxton • MIN    24
Castellanos • PHI    24
8.    Muncy • LAD    23
Larnach • MIN    23
10.    Santander • BAL    22
Judge • NYY    22
Suárez • SEA     and M.A.T.  AT  21 STRIKEOUTS  3  players on this list --- OUCH !!!

That'd be the best solution if they'd liberate Buxton to do so.

Kepler has nothing to do with Buxton being played as he is or his problems.

Just put him in Center Field  and not be paranoid about his getting hurt.

Right now he is useless.

I'm rooting for Willi Castro to do some damage to the Red Sox tonight. I've pulled extra hard for him since I picked him to be the most impactful non-roster invitee in Spring Training.

Whether he is the DH or not, we go through this with Buxton every so often. The slumps were more prolonged earlier in his career, although not as saturated with strikeouts. In another way, it is worse because he won't be making awesome defensive plays while we're waiting for him to bust out.

So do we know if either Polo or AK are in the lineup tonight for the Saints?

Looks like it.

Good news about Polanco- and Kiroloff  and with Gallo back soon, theres alot of Decisions coming up, anyone with options left needs to pick it up Quick,  Does M.A.T. Have a option left ? the Gordon situation is a tough call, ,

Just checked the BBRef team page for the Twins. Here is their list of the top 12 players (by WAR): P Lopez, Sonny Gray, Christian Vazquez, Joe Ryan, Michael A Taylor, Jorge Lopez, Griffin Jax, Ryan Jeffers, Willi Castro, Emilio Pagan, Joey Gallo, Jhoan Duran. No Miranda, no Correa, no Buxton, no Larnach and Willi Castro after the two catchers and Taylor. I don't know how accurate WAR is in such small sample sizes, but that's crazy.

Gallo is in Boston, expected to be activated tomorrow. I suppose Garlick is optioned as the corresponding move.

Or Castro or Julien.

I guess we will find out if Sale is still tipping his pitches.
I think Buxton needs to sit a couple of games. He is chasing the low outside balls again and looking foolish.
The front office is growing on me. Twins were in first place most of last year and are there now. Thanks goodness they are smarter than I am. I must say I like the stability and patience of the brain trust.
