LewFordLives Verified Member Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 Didn't they at least circle back to the Twins? DJL44, Dozier's Glorious Hair, weitz41 and 4 others 1 6
Nashvilletwin Verified Member Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 Prices are very high this year. With the Giants and Cubs supposedly all in on CC, it will be hard for the Twins to compete. Still hopeful though. Shouldn’t be long before we know. Dman 1
Hawkeye Bean Counter Verified Member Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 Giants have money to spend and want a superstar as well as the Cubs. I am not sure Correa is the Cubs #1 priority though. Right now I would say Correa most likely ends up with the Giants at this point. Doctor Gast 1
weitz41 Verified Member Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 Well I'm glad that is finally over. No more excuses for why CC hasn't signed with somebody. Doctor Gast 1
Trov Verified Member Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 Judge bet on himself and won. He turned down like 218 mil, had one of best seasons of anyone in recent years, now get 360 over 9. He is now one of top paid guys per year. I think the price for CC just went up. Do not think it will quite be at that average value, mainly because Judge is a power hitter, and they tend to age better than non power hitters. CC has power, but not a power hitter. I still do not expect CC to sign by end of meetings, Boras clients at least the top ones, normally hold out until closer later in off-season.
Nashvilletwin Verified Member Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 Let’s face it, it was always going to be hard for the Giants to compete with that short right field fence in NY. I can imagine that Judge told the Giants he’d sign with them, but they’d have to move the right field wall in - lol.
LewFordLives Verified Member Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 I'm not sure how much this affects a deal for CC. Judge's deal is what everyone has been expecting all along. Nine of twelve and Vanimal46 2
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 With Judge off the board, Correa could go today. If he doesn't, I think we need to presume Correa's camp is going to drag it out. If that's the case, the Twins should instead make Bogaerts the best offer he's ever going to get. solomon1930 and Vanimal46 2
Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 No surprise. And I don't think this will have a major effect on Correa's eventual contract. Turner's contract is more of a benchmark.
CRF Verified Member Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 Oh darn...I thought we had a real shot at getting him! Doctor Gast and weitz41 2
tony&rodney Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 Judge signed for what was expected and with the team expected. The Yankees have the money and Judge nearly single-handedly carried his team into the playoffs. I do not believe that there is any relationship between the Judge signing and what Correa seeks or receives in his contract.

terrydactyls Verified Member Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 I had a dream last night that the Twins waited until the end of the Winter Meetings to announce in a single press conference that they had signed Carlos Correa, Chris Bassitt, Adam Duvall, and Omar Narvaez. Way to go Front Office!!!
Doctor Gast Verified Member Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 What it looks like is CC to SF & Bogaert to the Cubs now.
farmerguychris Verified Member Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 Good - while Judge is a great talent, hopefully this monster contract at some point prevents them from getting someone they want in the future. Nine of twelve, Doctor Gast and Unwinder 3

These contracts are never a financial burden to the teams from major markets. Peanuts for the Yankees.

Yeah gotta believe Correa is the highest paid shortstop in the league after this is over. San Fran can afford to pay and what's not to like about the west coast weather? Bogaerts and the Red Sox are still talking and I have to believe are the favorites to sign him as he is settled in there. Looking at the market they have to know what it will take. Guessing they were hoping to bridge to their shortstop draft pick to not have to spend money but if they want to compete this coming year they need Bogaerts. We will see what their appetite is for going long term with him. Otherwise it sure looks like the Cubs will grab him. It feels like the Twins will be on the outside looking in once again unless Correa really, really likes it here..

Just play Farmer until Lewis is ready to come back up.
