CRF Verified Member Posted November 17, 2022 Posted November 17, 2022 I don't mind the uniforms at all, but I still don't care for the cursive "Twins". The way the W connects to the I, just doesn't look right...and for me, it doesn't even look like it says "Twins". It looks like it says "Tum" with an NS at the end. Am I the only person that sees that? I guess I have no choice but to get used to it.
DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted November 17, 2022 Posted November 17, 2022 I like the new script, other than the fact I just bought a Twins pennant for my family room on my 1st trip to Target Field in August that suddenly feels dated. (Sigh). The script looks perfect to me and I don't see what others do. The white home uniforms are EXCELLENT. They are reminiscent of the old school whites worn until the mid 80's but much better and updated. I don't mind the blue top. It's fine. But it's missing something. And I'm not sure what. Are the sleeves that bare? Or do we yet get to see some patches? And does the whole jersey look better with the back on display, which we can't see? Something like a Mini and Paul patch and a white outline of the number on the back of the jersey might "complete" the look.

(ps. the post you’re reading, no double-dipping on doc’s posts, you miscreants)

Squirrel Community Moderator Posted November 17, 2022 Posted November 17, 2022 Wonder what’s close and what’s not right?

When I write "Twins" in cursive, I connect the W and the I at the bottom of each letter, not in the middle of each letter. For me, to connect them in the middle like that looks very strange. It just doesn't look right. Agree, the convection between the “w” and the “i” is awkward. Also, the “T” is the only letter not connected. The “T” seems disconnected from the rest.
GP830 Verified Member Posted November 17, 2022 Posted November 17, 2022 I've been really excited about this reveal, and feel very disappointed by these projected looks. A few thoughts: Instead of creating a more modern look to appeal to the younger crowd, it looks like they're trying to appeal to the "sailor man" crowd. The script genuinely looks like it says "Turns," with a dot over the "r." This is really only one inventive photoshopping away from it saying "Turds," with a dot over the "r." There's nothing more modern about this look in my eyes. In fact, they look like fake throwbacks, which is the worst type of throwbacks. I had a number of ideas that I believe would have been much more innovative, unique and interesting than these. I have been a defender of the Kasota Gold as well as the home navies (which I loved). Hoping that we see something more exciting on Friday.

Capital Ts are often disconnected from cursive script.
GP830 Verified Member Posted November 17, 2022 Posted November 17, 2022 I'll also point out that this is the 3rd scripted "Twins" logo in team history. I'm not sure a new one was necessary.

It doesn’t look bad at all.

It might be technically the correct way to do it, but it looks wrong to my old eyes. Oh well.

RpR Verified Member Posted November 17, 2022 Posted November 17, 2022 Didn't all teams used to have, a home and an away uniform and that was it? If the baby blue goes away I will be happier ( speaking of uniforms, the Vikings should go back to what Bud Grant allowed , period.)

I've just seen a lot of people mention that issue and I don't really get it.
Unwinder Verified Member Posted November 17, 2022 Posted November 17, 2022 I hope the number font is a bit different, that's the one thing I'm sure that I don't like.

I've noticed the Twins have been leaning harder on the Senator years lately. I guess being one of the original eight is important to them, though I personally couldn't care less.

I heard a rumor a few years ago (cant remember from where/whom), but they started to lean into it more over the past few years (championship flags in RF at Target Field, etc) in order to get ready for the 100 year celebration of the 1924 WS title.

CRF Verified Member Posted November 17, 2022 Posted November 17, 2022 Yes, the unis are nice. I'm sure I'm probably the only one that thinks this...but that last leaked pic looks to me, that it says "TWIMS". That's what I see. I'm absolutely 100% sure when I was a kid in the early 60's, we didn't learn to connect cursive letters at, or near the top of the letter like that. We connected them at the bottom of the letter. That's the way I still do it, when I write in cursive. No doubt cursive is a dying, or dead way to write.
