Linus Verified Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 This is the most fundamentally unsound I can recall in my many years of watching the Twins. I don’t know who gets the blame but this is ridiculous and they’ve played sloppy most of the year. 4 fing errors and a bunch of botched plays. Tommy Watkins has made a career’s worth of blunders in one season.
LA Vikes Fan Verified Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 More than anything else, this game just reminded me that we aren't a very good team. No depth, weak bullpen, unreliable starters, poor managing moves. All of this on top of a lack of overall talent to compete with the big boys. They say you are what your record says you are. that is so true of this team. We're 68-66, slightly above .500. That's about right. I see us coming in around 82-80, 83-79. Better than than the 78-84 I predicted pre-season but still not good enough.

Or hire somebody who can figure out how to fix the likes of Megill and Pagan? Can't keep these guys on the roster if they can't do their job. Meanwhile, my plan to bet on the Yankees over the Twins every game this year has a 80% success rate. Let's see if that will continue through the final two games. Don’t you know that all teams are forced to run guys like Megill out there? The proof is the righty sinker baller on the Yankees that throws 99 because of his poor ERA in 6 IP. I was just educated on this in a lecture here.
SanoMustGo Verified Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 The Yankee team that beat the Twins is awful right now. What does that about the Twins?

The pop-up was inexcuseable, but some of you are taking it entirely too far. Correa has the 3rd highest OPS on the team. I am all for being let down in him in some regard, but at least be a little objective.

Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 And that clinches another season series loss to the Yankees. Happened every year since probably the Clinton administration

I will say they finish 10-14 or 9-15.

He’ll probably take a pay cut to get out of this baseball black hole.

LA Vikes Fan Verified Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Megill was the problem, not Correa. Correa hits a sac fly, their last hit probably plates 2 and we lose 6-5 instead of 5-4. We just don't have the bullpen depth to survive 5 inning starts yet that's all we get. A guy like Megill should never be in that kind of a spot. Wait until the night cap. The remaining relievers are Moran and Pagan. Poor Ryan. Doesn't matter even if he leaves with a lead.

TopTwinsFan Verified Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Watching Twins baseball this year: Excited to watch my team and some good baseball. Team starts well due to talent on the team. Team often has a lead or tie. Team chokes. Horrendous management. Poor decision making. Bullpen that seems to fail 2/3 times. Team that doesnt trust itself to win on display. Team makes me frustrated and antsy. Wish I could help them but I am just a fan. Team loses or barely hangs on to a victory. Repeat. Falvey/Baldi Ball

And then apparent poor coaching at the major league level doesn’t solve anything.
TopTwinsFan Verified Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 I truly feel bad for any young person starting to watch the Twins this season. Or a parent taking their kids to games this year. It is hard enough to get young people into baseball, no less a mentally weak team that expects to lose.

Earning 35M and saying he is responsible for a loss and hoping he can opt out after the game are two entirely different things. Throwing slander at Correa because of team losses because he makes 35M is just a cop out and not looking at things objectively.

Hey I started following them right after their last WS title. Mid 90s. They were awful. Made the early 00s that much more fun

I was all for the signing, but as the season has gone on, I am less and less a fan. I am being objective, since he really struggles in those type of situations. He has regressed as the season progressed. Slander? BS, he is not as good as advertised. He is just not. Look at his numbers.
