Archer’s line is going to look pretty lousy, but for 4 he was pretty good.

I'm not sure 6 innings of a bullpen sans Duran was going to be much of an improvement; pick your poison I guess.

He was cruising early but he certainly earned those 4 runs with that meltdown. He was honestly lucky that ball Moncada hit bounced out of play giving Duffey a shot at cutting the damage in half.

Losing 3 of 4 to the Sox here at home, is pitiful. Unless the FO makes some moves to fix a few things, we're in big trouble. We've got one foot out the door, and the other on the banana peel.

Pretty good for four is quite a low bar

Maybe we just load up on ten of those such guys, have 3 other pitchers for the bullpen in case one of them needs bailing out or wants a closer to take over, and call it a rotation.

My watch just told me it's time to stand. I think I will get a beverage. The adult kind.

Ain’t that the truth. I always laugh when the twins social media people make up a fancy graphic touting a guy who went 5 innings. They did it the other day for Ryan. “The Joe Ryan experience”…a whole 5 1/3

Then there’s this thing about using your best reliever for a  big point in the game no matter the inning.  Maybe somebody other than Duffy could get one out and those last two runs don’t come in.

Duffey's been one of our best relievers as of late (very low bar, obviously) and Duran went 2 innings yesterday... so not sure who'd you use.

But, Tyler Duffey hasn't given up a run in a month.  Yay?

I might have missed it.  Did Bremer say that just before it was no longer true?

We’ll end up 3rd in the division just too thin on the pitching and clutch hitting

No, I said it.  :) And I believe it's still true.

What's even more surprising to me is that this appears to be the first time he's allowed an inherited runner to score this season.

(That's because he's come in with very few inherited runners this season.  He was tried for that role last year and it wasn't a success.)

There's also an aftereffect that never seems to make it into these convos. Archer can certainly be effective for 3-4 innings, but if you're managing his exposure, and consistently asking 6+ IP from a bullpen that largely consists of guys who need to limited, in addition to a rotation that's also being minimized in terms of exposure, you can see how the snowball starts to form.

Very likely a realistic scenario.  Just too weak at too many facets of the game to really expect much more this season.  On paper, and IMO, both Cleveland and Chicago are clearly better teams.

Do we get to see another position player take the mound or does any number of these expendable bullpen arms eat it and get booted following the game? Oh the intrigue....

Losing 3-out-of-4 at home to a division opponent is pretty On Brand for the Twins these days. They haven't been good since May.

The break couldn't come at a better time for a team that needs to regroup, reassess, and definitely restock the MLB talent.

The Twins don't just need pitching BTW. If they're going to go for this thing, I think they need to add at least one bat. I know we all like to pretend the offense is decent, but this team leads MLB in getting shut out and it looks like it's going to happen again today.

Lots of holes to fill by the August trade deadline. Maybe too many holes to even bother trying.
