I like that order.  Especially considering how today's game is going.  Less pressure on Winder to go out and do something special.  And if he does, all that much better.

I think it also helps save the bullpen (maybe). He only threw 59 pitches in his last outing, so that puts him around 75 pitches or so which maybe gets you through 5 innings if everything goes correctly, where as Smeltzer can certainly give you 100 pitches if the game is lopsided one way or the other.

Can anyone guess who this Twins player is? This is one of the more surprising Statcast pages that I've seen.

Nick Gordon

I don't mind challenging a play even when up 9 runs (try to get Jeffers a hit for his stats), but can't they speed up the review? I though it was clear he was out.

It means that you don't need to look at any more of these and use the time to smoke more animal flesh!

Nick Gordon

We have a winner!

Honestly, if it weren't for Nick Gordon being labeled a bust before he made his 1st major league PA, I think we would be as excited about him as we are about guys like Kirilloff and Larnach.

I've maintained that he's got an important role on this team.  Guys like him are important.

I'm not sure I'd quite go that far. He has an OPS in the .650's and isn't a plus defender anywhere and can't really play shortstop, but he's perfectly fine in the role he has now

Guardians taking a page out of the Twins' playbook.  Get a base runner, hit into a DP.

The way Perkins has been mispronouncing "Urshela" the entire night is bothersome. It's not that hard, is it?

He’s a more versatile Willians Astudillo. Probably less fun, more versatility, but once he’s due more than the absolute minimum he gone.

I'm guessing he's a Friends fan. He's been saying "Ursula" every time.

Gordon's OPS is 690 in June trending up. That's a league average hitter these days.

Where did you get these stats? MLB has Gordon with 41 strikeouts and Jeffers with 52?

never mind I need to look closer

A lot of the excitement here is for the chosen few; actual performance numbers , no matter how meh, keep them above other with just as good or better numbers.

Position players pitching does nothing for me. I don’t find it neat or fun to watch. I keep thinking one of these guys is going to get a 100 mph line drive at his head. Looks more dangerous than anything else

Oh boy. Another position player pitcher appearance. Have I mentioned that I’m incredibly bored of this?

You were kinda wishy-washy in your blog.  Can you clarify your stance on the matter for those keeping score at home? :)
