Good Day, aTwinsFanInMaryland here today with one thread for two games against the Detroit Tigers. The big news of the day is Carlos (C4) Correa landed on the COVID-IL, joining fellow teammates Joe Ryan & Gilberto Celestino (insert look of disgust). Also, in Game 2, we will see Roger Clemens youngest son, Kody, make his MLB debut for the Tigers.

Roster Moves: With Correa on the COVID-IL, we will see the MLB debut of Jermaine Palacios in game 1 today, playing shortstop. Important to note, because of COVID-IL rules, Palacios can be removed from the 40-man at a later time without having to clear waivers. Also, Cole Sands was added to the active roster as the 27th man for the double header.

The Pitchers:

GAME 1: LHP #31 Devin Smeltzer (1-0, 1.04 ERA, 8K’s) vs RHP #51 Rony García (0-0, 3.00 ERA, 22K’s)

GAME 2: RHP #21 Cole Sands (0-0, 6.75 ERA, 6K’s) vs LHP #43 Joey Wentz (0-1, 20.25 ERA, 1K)

quick note: Devin Smeltzer is coming off of an excellent outing against the Royals! He went 7 innings gave up only 2 hits and gave up zero runs. Look for him to build upon the momentum he has gained.

Cole Sands will pitch the second game of the double header. With Sands making his MLB debut this season he has yet to face the Tigers.

The Lineup: (Game 2 Lineup will be posted later in today’s thread)

Twins:

1. Luis Arraez 1B

2. Byron Buxton CF

3. Max Kepler DH

4. Jorge Polanco 2B

5. Trevor Larnach RF

Congratulations to Jermaine Palacios! All of the injuries and illnesses do give others a chance. Palacios has had a long time spent in the minors. This is a nice reward for all the work he has put in.

Well, considering who all we are missing, that’s not a horrible lineup … we’ll see if it’s enough soon enough, like, in minutes to start

Hope yall are ready for the downfall. It begins now. Last month and a half was a cute façade in my opinion. By this time next month the Twins will be right at or under .500 and out of first with a worn out BP that was already over achieving and injured stars on offense. Would love to be proven wrong but I think the writing is on the wall. Oh well, at least they made it to June before they became unwatchable this year. Last year it was the beginning of May and I turned off the games and only checked scores.

Just saw Rocco on the pre game, and they said this is the 47th different line up, in the 50 games we've played. That's incredible.

Good to see Palacios up for the first time - I don't expect a whole lot from his bat, but he's supposed to be a solid defender at SS. Let's see how he fares.

Also, Sands has already pitched in 2 games for the Twins and gave up 3 runs over 4 innings. Here's hoping for a decent enough outing from him.

I've been trying to get myself into better shape, working with a personal trainer. I asked him if he could train me to do the splits.

"Well, how flexible are you?" he asked.

"I can do anything but Tuesday and Sunday mornings" I said.

But anyway, as I was saying, TWO OUT RBI!

Better than se... ... Better than not getting 2 out RBI.

The only splits this old fossil can do...come with ice cream, a banana, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and a cherry on top.

Another good start by Smeltzer, would be very nice today. Like seven strong innings or so.

Well, then you'll need to block out more time than just Tuesday and Sunday!  You're not very flexible at all!
