It can vary, but most of the bands in the PNW (there are at least a hundred) have about 7. Three sopranos, two tenors, a baritone, and a bass, which is a huge piece of equipment. Our bass is about 8 feet long with 10 keys and stands off the ground so that you stand on a platform to play it.

The instruments are "white-keys only," though a lot now have F#s. We play mostly Zimbabwean music, either folk songs or modern compositions by the plethora of Zimbabwean and South African marimba composers. We use no music and memorize our (often drone-like repetitive) parts along with the cues and signals for the changes. Lots of fun!

Too bad you're in Portland.

I could bring my Musser 61 and really shake things things up with my Depeche Mode and New Order-heavy setlist. Cultures would mesh. White keys and black keys would meet. It would be a whole thing.

We might even score a marathon gig again. But alas, neither your marimba nor my xylophone would fit in the airplane overhead compartment.

Wait, the Twins scored runs?!?!!?!?! PLURAL?!?!?!?!!?!?!

Yes, maybe we should give it another game or two before we call the season a complete failure

I'm not talking about slow starts.

I'm talking about a team forced to put those three in the 3 4 5 spots in the lineup.

I'd venture that's the least talented group in those spots in MLB this season.

I would venture that after you see some of the 3-4-5's rolled out by BAL and OAK this year, you might retract this.

Okay.

You're right.

Then how would we fuel our message board-based angst?

Oh, I wasn't really worried yet, but watching the past few games was brutalllllllll. Just boring, bad baseball.

I know you weren’t, most of your minions though, lol

Did any of you all foresee Bundy opening the season as a viable, useful, contributing member of the rotation?

I am very positively surprised so far. He's been very effective.

It's way too early to declare anything but early results on this patchwork rotation are making Falvine look like ****ing geniuses.

I'm starting to think the Twins might turn into Cleveland West--lost of good pitching, mostly inept hitting.

I thought he'd be a serviceable #4-5.  I still think he is. But he's looking good

I've wondered about that but unlike Cleveland, the Twins have so many hitting prospects in the system, it's hard to see that kind of offensive failure happen here.

So far, I’m happy with starting pitching. I’m not worried about the Twins offense, not even a little, way too early to make any rational judgements on that. Defense is concerning, I hear a lot about Sanchez, but I think Sano is the biggest liability in the field. The bullpen needs help soon, they are not good, so far just a continuation of last season. The bullpen  will make or break the season.
