They call an inning in which a pitcher gets 3 K's on 9 pitches an "immaculate inning."

Sano is 2/3rds of the way to whatever they call a hitter K'ing 3 times on 9 pitches.

I think they call that an "immaculate turd!" :)

Buxton stole the 2nd base, that's why speed matters. I don't understand why Cave is still on the roster and Broxton is not up.

Albert Pujols DFA'd by the Angels.

On Willie Mays' 90th birthday, no less.

Cave really needs to go, Sano may be next.

wow.

My thoughts as well. Final year of his big contract and he has not been good this year. Still shocking to see, regardless.

I'm a cynical old *******, but seeing a kid get his first MLB hit is still pretty cool. Must be an amazing feeling.

I know he was safe, but it was close because he almost didn't have his foot on the bag. If the MLB wants to increase action on the bases, which it appears they do, they need to change the stolen base rule. If the runner beats the tag, he's safe, even if his foot or hand come off the bag for half a second.

Were you a cynical old man when Willie Mays got his first career big league hit?

LOL.

That will make the preposterous statement tournament as a 3 seed.

Probably a pretty good sleeper pick, too!

And The experts will be outraged it didn't get a higher seed.

Gordon's play today does raise an interesting question: What does the team do if the kid plays like a friggin' star the whole time Polanco and Arraez are healing up?

Agree - this ticky-tack stuff where the guy's foot comes off for .0000026 seconds, gets reviewed for 15 minutes and then gets called out? Total garbage.

To call a guy out like that isn't in the spirit of the rule. It's changing the game. Those instances should be ruled "inconsequential non-base contact" or something.

Twins know 3 runs won't be enough. Texas knows 3 runs won't be enough. We all know 3 runs won't be enough.

We're all just sitting here waiting for the other shoe to drop.

A far better way to do this would be to eliminate pickoffs.  Have a circle drawn around each base that a runner must be inside of until the pitcher begins his motion.  Not sure how far away it needs to be, they could do some studies, but I would imagine 6-8 feet.  Runners don't need to worry about getting back to the base, no more sitting through 3-5 throws to first in a PA, and stolen bases much more frequent.

I actually don't know if it is--he was saying it because Byron Buxton told him so.  On better manicured fields, there will be less friction, which means it takes longer to stop, thus you're more apt to overslide.
