Maybe the Twins will move on from the Bear and bring back the nightmare that was Twinkie The Loon (Twins' mascot in the 1980-'81 seasons.)

Time was when a baseball team's mascot would be a handicapped* kid from the neighborhood. Such urchins were considered good luck for some reason - the practice was pretty universal, a couple turns-of-century ago. Maybe the Twins should think outside the box and go with something seriously retro like that, retiring TC Bear to a local hall of fame.

* Yeah, they probably didn't choose the kindest language for how they described him, at the time. Nicknames were, shall we say, somewhat pointed.

Which TD member is going to step up and wear the costume?

Squirrel? Chief? North?

I saw the topic heading and thought, "I'm applying!" Seriously. I'm due for an occupation shift. :) But I'm going to talk them into changing the mascot to TC SQUIRREL!!!

I don't know what's more terrifying... The loon, or the New Orleans King Baby.

Maybe we could get the guy who does the Phanatic.

The Phanatic has some serious chops.

I vote for Chief.

This could be interesting...

Right. Because your team’s mascot screaming ‘GET OFF MY LAWN’ at small children will go over well.

Seems like this compilation missed one:

Ok I’ll be the contrarian. This guy lost his gig and everyone thinks it’s funny. Maybe they should get out in front of this with an explanation. Same thing with Tony Leo. Maybe express appreciation or something

The team was quoted in the article with an “appreciate the many years of service” type of response.

I don’t think it’s funny that Greg Wilfahrt lost his job, no matter if he resigned or was fired, it’s serious business for him.

The idea of me auditioning to be a replacement is downright hilarious.

I thought he was a real bear. Next thing you will tell me that Santa is not real and then don't you dare say anything about the Easter Bunny.

You mean the Easter Squirrel, don't you?

Hey, 20 years! And the guy could really hit! Talk about a job I wouldn't want on a rainy day or in the heat of the summer.

Anything you may hate about the grinning bear, this guy did bring life to a full-bodied masccot, he worked his butt off for ALL home games here and in Florida plus hundreds of appearances at charity events, marketing events and other sporting events.

Just running up and down the steps at the Metrodome had to be a chore.

Hey, who remembers Twinkie the Loon?
