bighat Verified Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Say what you will about Eddie, none of this would be a problem if Perez was a good pitcher. He's bad and the Twins really had no chance running him out on the mound today against Strasburg.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 That about answers the “I’d like to see Rosario in right” question, I’d say. That should be an error in Rosario. Really costly. He's missed them in left like that too. Eddie's fielding has gone backwards the last two years.
VATwinsFan Verified Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 And Arraez just keeps on a hitting'. I'd say he is a keeper.

He's not consistent, for sure, but he has enough stuff to get MLB batters out. That makes it more frustrating, I guess.
VATwinsFan Verified Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Polanco-mania!!!!!!!!!!!
PDX Twin Verified Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 If Eddie somehow manages to make that catch, it's tied.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Hmmmm, subtract three and it's a tie game.
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Didn't that same thing happen last night, after Morneau said the Twins could use a home run, Garver blasted one out? Keep putting in the requests, Justin!
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 On the plus side, this should reduce the chance Perez is back next year. Or that he starts a playoff game.
FlauerPauer Verified Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 It's the constant focus that I find wearing. Can't really do it. There are many reasons I would not make a good Official Scorer, but constant focus would likewise be #1 in that job too. "Wasn't watching" is a poor excuse. So if you enjoyed it, why haven't you sought out amateur opportunities? Eh, I have other things that I'd rather do, such as coaching. I coach modified basketball. I'm a teacher, so sometimes I have long days. Going fishing, going to Syracuse basketball games, watching Islanders hockey, barbecuing/smoking food, and spending time with friends and family are important to me to keep sane from dealing with 14/15 year old's all day. Hoping to umpire modfied/high school baseball this spring. There's only so many hours in a week. I only did it once, and it was fun, but I don't know if the fun would last if it was a full time job. Nor did I say, I was good! lol

John Kelsey Verified Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 He's missed them in left like that too. Eddie's fielding has gone backwards the last two years. Three actually, he had his worst defensive season in 2017.
bighat Verified Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Cruz now 2-19 in the past 5 games. No RBI. Twins don't need him to get hot. They just need him to get normal.

I'd say the chances of Perez returning to the Twins is 0.001%. They know what they've got, and they can find someone who can pitch better for much less. I don't think we'll see him pitch more than an inning or two in any playoff game, if the Twins make the playoffs.

nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Forgive me if it’s been covered already, by why in the hell are the Angels playing a 5:00 PST game for Cleveland? They aren’t even playing tomorrow.
bighat Verified Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Hmmmm, subtract three and it's a tie game. On the flip side, subtract that throw in Boston and the Twins lead over Cleveland is 4 games instead of 5. Eddie taketh away, but he did also giveth.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 How good would Robbie Ray, Mike Minor, or Marcus Stroman look in the rotation right now?Eh, maybe Minor. The other two only have faces a mother could love.
FlauerPauer Verified Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Eh, maybe Minor. The other two only have faces a mother could love. Ha! How many athletes are ugly people? Judge, Blake Griffin... who else. I can't really think of many more.

He’d been pretty good four of his last five starts. This rotation has been a roller coaster all year and we got three weeks left. We don’t watch out and he could still be starting game one.

FlauerPauer Verified Member Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Provus and Gladden talking about how the Nats haven't won a playoff series in 10 years or so. How many times have the Twins won a playoff series in 20 years? Wouldn't make that a point of conversation if I were them.
