For all the talk about aging free having trouble getting contracts, the Nats sure do have a slew of them.

They also have a slew of pitchers with sub 4 ERAs

Is this a case of markets working? If most teams are passing on them, the price goes down and someone will come through and buy up the bargains.

Didn't work for the Twins last year with Lynn and Morrison, but that doesn't mean it doesn't work for others.

Any chance of converting Littell back into a starter? He looks very precise out there. Twins may have a few guys that might become better starters than Perez. Smelt, Littell, Dobs, Thorpe, Grats...

Well. Just back from early classes- I see we had another starter take a step back when we need a step up.

Color me surprised.

Don't worry! When Cole signs somewhere else LEN or Doogie will tell us we went real hard after him! ;)

But, of course, this might well be true!

Every good FA has 5-10 teams going after him. Only one gets him. The other 4-9 are left wondering if their owner didn't offer enough. That's possible (and not necessarily bad---there are lots of foolish contracts offered) but it could also be that the player just preferred to play somewhere else.

Littell has looked so much better since hopping into the bullpen and adding 4+ MPH to his fastball. I wouldn't mess with his success. I'd pencil him into a spot in the pen in 2020; not a high leverage spot, but certainly roster spot.

Agreed. Littell is a bullpen piece in the majors. Doesn't have the velocity or secondary pitches to go 5-6-7 innings. Nothing wrong with being a good bullpen guy though, especially in today's game.

It was fun. I really enjoyed it. Only thing that was really tough was getting the players names. Talking about the action and what was going on in the game was relatively simple as I coach and have played basketball pretty much my entire life. It was a little exhausting as you do need to have something to say pretty much at all times. I ran a radio show in college so being "on air" wasn't really too nerve wracking.

My son was the play-by-play guy for his (award-winning) college radio station. One year for the station pledge drive, my wife and I gave at the level where the gift was the opportunity to share a shift with one of their regular deejays. Instead, I asked if I could do color with Tony on a basketball game. It was one of the most fun things I've ever done. There's something really awesome about doing something in your child's space, where he/she gets to mentor mom/dad and be the expert.

Didn't seem like Soto needed to dive for that sinking liner, but it increased the chance for some webgem love.

Does Baseball Tonight still exist?
