Romo, Stashak, Dobnak. I'd have been fine with 2 of those 3. But not the closer in a non-save situation unless the game got later.

Romo threw 25 over 1.3 yesterday. Stashak and dobnak? Nah. Dobnak threw 68 pitches on FRIDAY. No thanks on stashak.

Because the bullpen has so few reliable arms, Rogers and Romo both threw too many pitches yesterday. Hence, nothing left for today.

Thanks Falvine!

Sometimes a team needs to hit bottom to find its groove. And sometimes a manager and a coach will learn from their mistakes. I am glad to be tied for first at this point in the season, and hopeful that the Twins will start playing better.

Indians play tomorrow. Could be out of first and the collapse will be complete

We've seen some bad ones over the years and this ranks right up there

And this is why you don't bring your closer in for a non-save situation, especially after pitching 2 innings yesterday.  May couldn't have gone another inning?

Rogers has thrown just 31 pitches in the last 5 days, I don't see why he couldn't have taken the 10th. I thought that was a fine time to use your best reliever.

I really want to give into the notion that things will be ok because Cleveland has a tougher schedule left, but then you look at Cleveland's pitching staff and that lineup (which the front office wasn't afraid to improve). That team has all the ability in the world to do very well against tough teams. It's gonna be a tight race.

The problem was needing him for two high stress innings yesterday because we traded for a lemon and have no one besides romo to get big outs

I've reviewed the 9th inning windmill ten times now.

It's inexcusable each time.

I'm not going to watch it an 11th time.  :)

Except that all of those 31 pitches were 16 hours ago.

At some point, between the hits and a walk, you realize the guy doesn't have it and bring in someone else. You play this game to win. If the "bad" pitcher is losing it, another pitcher ain't gonna be the one to kill it for you, either.

Heck, call it a long game and bring in Perez (we have an off day tomorrow).

The batters can't keep coming back, only to lose it to bullpen misuse, overuse or not being stocked with the right arms for a playoff-caliber team.

You don't think Baldelli was playing to win... when he brings in Rogers after he threw 31 pitches last night?

Not really surprising results the past 4 games. Cleveland is just better in every category, top to bottom , ownership to ball girl. Prediction: when this team goes to Cleveland in mid September, they'll be 5.5 games out of first. It will be the last hurrah of this season and no mater the result it won't make any difference in Cleveland's 4th straight division championship. So look forward to 2020.

Three things about today's game: 1. Ehire Adrianza is not a very fast runner. He's not. Sorry to break it to you but it is well-documented that he is not a very fast runner. Is Jake Cave still on the team? Why wasn't he brought in to pinch run instead? I know he's faster than Adrianza. This is at least the third time I have seen Adrianza thrown out at home in a critical situation in the last 3 years. I do not understand why our club thinks he is fast. He is not. He is a slightly below-average runner. That's a fact and it is documented.

2. No other third base coach in MLB sends that runner in that situation. Perhaps there needs to be some accountability for such a game-changing and possible season-changing decision. Are there any decent third base coaches in our minor league system that could replace Diaz? Honest question.

3. Cleveland is better. At first this year, I did not understand why experts were not showing the Twins juggernaut respect, but I understand now. Cleveland's pitching is elite and the Twins pitching has gotten worse since the start of the year.

I’ve seen the numbers, but I don’t know if I buy them. There is no way you are going to convince me that Adrianza is slower than Sano and .1 feet per second faster than Cron. Is Cave faster? Probably. I don’t think he makes it either though. Adrianza was out by 10-15 feet. As you said, he probably shouldn’t have been sent.

many teams will bring there closer in , in a tie game 9th inning or later at home. There will be no more save opportunities in that game because the only way the home team wins us with a walk off

As far as this bullpen goes, we can shuffle the deck a dozen different ways but it's still the same card game.

I was WRONG when I defended Falvey for doing nothing to improve the pen. My reasoning was bullpens are unpredictable one year to the next and that we made big improvements to the offense anyway.

I'm not inclined to blame the manager for using Rogers today. I reserve that for yesterday's SP. Would be nice if he could get to the sixth inning in less than 100 pitches

I would concur. The Twins lost today because Rogers and Romo needed to throw 25 plus pitches each yesterday.

Yep, when you have exactly two reliable guys in the bullpen, the further you get from the starting getting 18 ours, the less likely we are to win

A day of rest...

Likely travel for the Twins?

Ah. Milwaukee.

I wonder what it says that i go to their mlb website to check my spelling, and it is spelled out only once there... that i can find.

I’m pretty sure they fly, but I almost wonder if busses would be faster. It’s like 5 hours by bus. By the time you go through security and have to wait for boarding plus any airport delays, I doubt it’s much faster. Plus, I assume they bus players from the ballpark (or wherever they park their cars) to the airport and then from the airport to the hotel. Or they could go real old school and take the train.

They aren't flying commercial.

It's still much faster for them to fly.

It's a 65 minute flight, including taxiing in and out (46 minutes in the air).
