Jham Verified Member Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 I'm sure some have commented about how much Thorpe looks like a left-handed Carl Pavano. But it's worth reiterating, and for that reason alone, I'm dubious about his prospect status.
TwinsCD Verified Member Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 There's a severe weather alert on the scoreboard and yet they're not pulling people off the field and out of the stands. Seems smart.
MNT1996 Verified Member Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 The 5 inning rule for an official game is so stupid
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 Stay safe!I’m inside waiting it out. Shoulda brought my rain poncho. Could’ve just stayed in my seat
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 Adrianza is my new favorite fourth outfielder—he knows how to stay out of Buxton’s way!
Circus Boy Verified Member Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 Rain should end in an hour. We may get to the Chisox bullpen yet!
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 Being entertained by organ music. Good times.

Jerr Verified Member Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 Turn on WCCO for their rain delay coverage. Great baseball talk!
Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 The extended delay is more likely to favor the Twins than the Whities. Giolito and Thorpe are done for the day so it's bullpen vs bullpen.

Dantes929 Verified Member Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 Funny thing about the Adrianza play: If Gonzo was in RF and Adrianza at 3B, the runner probably would not have tried to stretch to third, because Gonzo's arm is already known. Gonzo could definitely make that throw, maybe even better. its not all about arm. I really liked how hard Adrianza charged that ball and how quickly he got rid of it. Gonzo does have a good arm but I don't know how he could have done any better on that play.

Squirrel Community Moderator Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 woohoo ... LaBamba on the organ ...
diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 welp... just jumped on to see the delay. Not a bad debut for Thorpe. Wish the bats could have bailed him out as I'm assuming both pitchers are done for the day. Hopefully we get some late runs so as not to tag him with an L for his start... but really not bad at all.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 He was up against Giolito. We likely weren’t going to get runs for him unless Gio had a bad day. Didn’t look like that was happening. Thorpe did well for his debut.
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 Are they seriously planning to resume this game? Either call it or finish it the next time the Twins are in Chicago. Waiting two plus hours on get away day is beyond dumb.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 Looks like the rain should clear by 6. Since neither team has a game tomorrow I’m guessing we will resume.

I think Twins have the better opportunity here so let's wait until the city curfew kicks in before abandoning this one....unless the field is unplayable.
MNT1996 Verified Member Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 Twins have the best offense in MLB and they only get 1 position player all star? What a joke. I have no respect for whoever picked the reserves.
jkcarew Verified Member Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 After 5 innings, only tie games get suspended, right? I think the Twins are lucky at this point that neither team plays tomorrow...and Chicago doesn’t have any travel either...play next at home on Tuesday.

Since neither team has a game tomorrow I’m guessing we will resume. So, say they start at 6:30. Figure another 1 1/2 to 2 hours. So, maybe they are on the plane at 11. 3 hour flight. Even with the time change they get to their hotel by 1 or so. Keep in mind most of them were at the ballpark by 9 or 10 this morning. This game should have been called an hour ago. Are there even 50 people in the stadium? South side at night? What could go wrong.
