LVTwinsfan Verified Member Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 Really good isn’t how I would describe the Twins. They had a really good start, but they’re playing around .500 lately. And this thing about never losing more than two in a row is getting old. Lose two win one then lose two more, that’s not good at all
MMMordabito Verified Member Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 Hey, at least Duffey looks ready for more high leverage appearances
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 Duffey is who we thought he was.Which is why I left, and thought, I stayed through the delay for that?

ashbury Verified Member Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 Schoop hardly does anything when there is a runner on base.If only someone would take the time to track these things... https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.fcgi?id=schoojo01&year=2019&t=b#all_bases Bases empty: OPS .724Men on: OPS .795 Just 4 of his 13 HR have been solo. I'm sure it's possible to pick apart his performance. His BA with RISP is only .194 for example. But, compare him with RISP to, say, Nelson Cruz - in 74 such PA he has accumulated 23 RBI, while Cruz has 25 RBI in 73 PA even sporting a BA above .300 - hard to see a lot of daylight between these two batters in terms of getting the runners home.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 I’m kind of disappointed in that Snopes article, actually.... Kind of reads like an industry spokesperson wrote it. As if such a thing is utterly impossible... We’re not gonna lose Snopes, too, are we? /rant

For one thing Snopes is a really solid defensive second baseman, and for another, Arráez has no power. None.

Jham Verified Member Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 Thorpe having a Pavano like career is near the very top of the spectrum of likely outcomes, and would be a huge success.Hopefully, a Pavano like career earnings as well for the Thorpe family's sake!

He's had three games this year where he hit two homers, the scores of those games were 18-4, 16-7, and 14-8. If memory serves, all of those homers were hit when the Twins were already up by a touchdown or more. Add in a two-run shot in a 9-1 game and we have 7 homers and 18 RBI in games that were out of reach. Without the hitting in blowouts, Schoop has about a .700 OPS with 6 homers and 16 RBI. I realize almost everyone does better in low-leverage situations and that the sample sizes are small, but Schoop in particular has fattened up his stats this year in lopsided wins.
