I wouldn't be surprised. But doesn't he have to announce the protest at the time of the play? Maybe that's what he was doing out there. But I remember in past situations that it was known almost immediately to the announcing team.

Rule book says the ball is live:  "Even though an out is called (for leaving baseline) the ball remains in play in regard to any other runner"

Just jumping into this thread, but........... seriously? The Twins have no one other than Jack Morris to do the color on these games? I’ve heard him call the Twins the Tigers at least 3 times! He is irritating to listen to.

Just now commenting on the rundown: A better fielder (like every other player on our roster, for example) would not have attempted the throw that Astudillo tried to make. The third run may have scored anyway with the runner on second base but why make that throw when the runner had just been called out?
