diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2019 Posted June 8, 2019 Saves. The greatest stat in baseball! It's only a save if you make it dramatic...
diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2019 Posted June 8, 2019 And somehow gets away with it. Maybe they were counting on the element of surprise. He can throw a breaking pitch there, and if it doesn't work he probably doesn't lose the ball game. Throw one of his mediocre fastballs, and the game could end right there. Not the call I would have made, but it worked out. spotting him a 3 run lead helps too.
bighat Verified Member Posted June 8, 2019 Posted June 8, 2019 Back-to-back wins for the Twins. Be mighty nice to take this series.
diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2019 Posted June 8, 2019 allright.. bed time. Good night all!
John Kelsey Verified Member Posted June 8, 2019 Posted June 8, 2019 Well, we just won with our worst starter facing their best. Sweep should be attainable now.
ashbury Verified Member Posted June 8, 2019 Posted June 8, 2019 spotting him a 3 run lead helps too. Oh, that's right, the game couldn't actually end there. But it might as well, if he tied it up with a homer. I still call for a breaking pitch, any breaking pitch, and take my chances.
d-mac Verified Member Posted June 8, 2019 Posted June 8, 2019 SInce May 1st Blake Parker has an xFIP of 5.16. Why he is being used in any situation other than mop up duty is beyond me. In that time period he's allowed a HR/ Flyball % of 31.3% (or HR/9 of 3.65, if you prefer) and yet has a strand rate of 88.9%. So it could have been much, much worse.

LaBombo Verified Member Posted June 8, 2019 Posted June 8, 2019 It's only a save if you make it dramatic... Right, and it's not like the Twins' bullpen has no competition in the long-running drama department... http://cdn.londonandpartners.com/asset/c756064254cad64a7e61baaeca75adcd.jpg

He said “do you ever feel sorry for me? My future depends on a reliever who’s sitting in front of his locker right now crying.”
