ScrapTheNickname Provisional Member Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 Christian Guzman? No.Hint: it was 1971 and this player only had 200 hits once.
bird Verified Member Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 Who did we get Smeltzer from again? Dodgers for Dozier? No. For two lousy, miserable MONTHS of Dozier and Luke Raley, a C+ AAA guy.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 made Yelich look like a hack on that!
IndianaTwin Verified Member Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 No.Hint: it was 1971 and this player only had 200 hits once. Tony O?
Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 Smeltzer's pitching performance up to this point has been just as amazing as some of the hitting displays that our boys have produced this season.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 Smeltzer’s line through six: 6.0 3 0 0 0 6
ScrapTheNickname Provisional Member Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 Smeltzer!(As Dozier continues to tank in Washington. But they're playing him every day. Maybe he'll have his classic turnaround, who knows. But I don't miss him a bit, after last year's futility).
bird Verified Member Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 Omg the worst bremergasm I’ve ever heard Bremergasm. So absolutely perfect!
John Kelsey Verified Member Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 Smeltzer has only thrown 69 pitches.
ScrapTheNickname Provisional Member Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 Tony O?No, but he played alongside Tony O.
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 Brewers hitters have NO IDEA what pitch is coming next. Smeltzer has them completely fooled. It's almost like watching a multi-inning magic act. How does he do it?
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 Is this one of them thar pitchers' duels? Baseballs at 60'6"!
ashbury Verified Member Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 Lotta offense and hard hit balls for a scoreless game...Yeah, this might be the game to show a skeptic who you are trying to convince to be a fan.
Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 No.Hint: it was 1971 and this player only had 200 hits once.Easy find on the internet, but I'll refrain from naming the name. Really good trivia question, BTW.
ashbury Verified Member Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 Dick had me on that Sano non-HR. I was doing the dishes and I hear Dick yelling... for a flyball on the warning track. Stop it with the fake-outs!I was making dinner. Ditto.
John Kelsey Verified Member Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 Sano has looked pretty comfortable against Davies.
bird Verified Member Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 No.Hint: it was 1971 and this player only had 200 hits once. Has to be Marty Cordova.
Dave The Dastardly Verified Member Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 Who was the last Twins player not named Puckett or Carew who had 200 hits in a season? (Hint coming if nobody gets it)Vern Gagne?
ScrapTheNickname Provisional Member Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 Easy find on the internet, but I'll refrain from naming the name. Really good trivia question, BTW.I might as well give it away. George Mitterwald!
ScrapTheNickname Provisional Member Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 Just kidding, of course. It was Cesar Tovar.
Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 I might as well give it away. George Mitterwald!Ha!
akmanak Verified Member Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 I really dont understand why you would pull him and not let him go into the 7th.
IndianaTwin Verified Member Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 Easy find on the internet, but I'll refrain from naming the name. Really good trivia question, BTW. Good one, indeed. On one hand, not surprising when I looked it up, but not one of the first dozen or so guesses I would have had.
bird Verified Member Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 What I like best about the Alka-Smeltzer story almost as much as his own victory over his cancer? It's him coming from a storied franchise where he was mired in AA as pretty much a non-prospect reliever who was given instructions and an opportunity probably for one last push. He looks like a really fun guy to cheer for, and his story makes me feel even better about what's going on in this baseball organization.
Marek Houston Wichita Wind Surge - AA SS Houston went 3-for-4. He's hitting .333/.415/.505 (.920) since joining the Kernels. He added his fifth and sixth doubles. Explore Marek Houston News >
