As an umpire, I can't believe the HP umpire would overrule that call (correctly, it appears) when it's the 3B umpire's call after it passes the bag.

At least we didn't have to wait for a replay.

The Cruz signing has been huge. He's been the only guy in the lineup able to do much of anything when there are guys in scoring position.

Except that the call was that the ball landed foul well short of third. Shouldn’t the home plate ump have the call at that point?

 

Honestly asking because I don’t know the answer.

Doesn't matter where the ball lands when it's in front of the bag on either line because it can always kick back into fair territory before it gets to the bag or as it passes over the bag.  The standard rule is that HP has the ball up to the bag and then base umpire has it at the bag and beyond.  If 3B was screened and they came together to talk about it, then I can see the overrule.

 

If the ball is on the fly when it passes the bag and lands in foul territory, obviously it's foul.  If it's a big bounce off the plate, then it's judged by where it is when it crosses the bag, not necessarily where it lands on the next bounce.

I'm watching on MLB Gameday because we're close enough to KC to be blacked out but not close enough get the local broadcast. I see In play, out(s). Time for chicken!!!
