Two in Minnesota and now two in Milwaukee. In theory both teams could have been on the same flight. They could all be in cars traveling east on I-94 passing each other by.

Just imagine a caravan of Brewers cars driving through the Dells and a caravan of Twins cars stopping at a cheese shop and making up the ground and eventually passing the Brewers caravan by. Flipping each other off and laughing until the Wisconsin speed traps snare Brian Dozier.

I chose Dozier because he looks like the type who would speed.

Here are some things to think about:

1. Milwaukee – French fur traders were the first Europeans to settle into the area. Fifty years later the Germans came in waves, followed by Polish immigrants and then the Fonzerellis, Delvecchios, Arcolas, Tuscaderos, DeFazios and Regusas of Italy. The Germans brought beer, the Polish brought sausages, and the Italians brought Happy Days. Milwaukee is known as Festival City. The Germans brought German Fest, the Polish brought Polish Fest and the Summers brought Summer Fest. Milwaukee is constantly under construction and has on average 20 detours per square mile. It used to be the largest city in Wisconsin but now it’s the largest suburb in the greater Chicago metro area.

2. Our Twins – Lately I have been using this space to talk about power. I’ve been pointing out what the lineup looks like without Sano from a power point of view. Right on cue, Sano returned to the lineup last night and the team hit 5 homeruns. Sano struck out 3 times and didn’t hit any actual home runs but obviously the Twins don’t have any power without Sano in the lineup. Pretzel logic is very important when making assessments of your team.

3. The Brewers – The Brew Crew have lost two to the Twins and are blowing a chance to pass the Cubs because the Cubs have let off the gas. The Cards and Pirates are now back in it, too.

4. Today’s Joe M Conversation:

Montana: How are the plans coming for McCarthy’s surprise party?

Mauer: We got everything nailed down… just 1 or 2 small problems to solve.

Montana: Such as?

Maddon: I’m going to need a place to keep the food.

Mauer: Morgan… you got room at your house?

Maddon: Joe… can I store the food at your place?

Morgan: Sure… I think you’ll be surprised by what is left of it when you pick it up.

5. Weird Bumps – My wife was looking at a weird bump on my arm and wondering what it was. I was watching her holding my arm and I was thinking that marriages eventually become weird bump examinations… if they last long enough… and you are doing it right.

Just some thots...

Fifty years ago today, the Twins led the Senators 7-0 at home after six innings, but gave up seven runs in the 7th and lost in 20 innings, 9-7. Minnesota then lost the AL pennant on the season's last day. So close.

But what do I know. I was 11 at the time, living in Flint and rooting for the Tigers and -- gasp! -- the Yankees. I sense good things happening with the Twins yet this season.

Milwaukee used to be the largest city in Wisconsin but now it’s the largest suburb in the Chicago metro.

As a resident of Milwaukee, this actually has some merit.  They call Miller Park, Wrigley North and it's really not exaggerated.

In other news, tailgating and twins!  Can't wait for the game this evening.

Just came here to say that tonight probable starter for the Brewers, Brandon Woodruff kind of looks like Fulton Reed from Disney's early 1990's classic, The Mighty Ducks.

Now, I'm not saying they're the same person.  I'm just saying that I've never seen them in a room together at the same time.

Go Twins.

Or Jesse Tyler Ferguson.

I just don't get this.  What does Garver need to do to get a chance up here.

It's got to be pretty defeating for Garver... Especially considering Vargas' bat has been ice cold so far in August. Not a worthy call-up IMO.

Your editor was a bit confused ... 'if they last long enough' ... was that in reference to the bumps?

seriously? tv and stage star

I checked his IMDb page and I don't think I've seen anything he's ever been in. No, I don't watch Modern Family. I've heard of it, of course, but haven't seen it. I don't really watch that much television, outside of a very few things.

iirc, he's also a big musical/stage guy, not sure if that is on imdb or not....

I honestly think it would be faster for the teams to have bussed this. Or go real old school and taken the train. I mean they will board busses and head to the airport. I realize it's a charter and security is a tad less intrusive, but I would assume they all have to go through some kind of screening. 25 players, a dozen coaches, trainers, traveling media, equipment guys, etc. It has to be a good hour to get everyone boarded. Airline traffic. Who knows how long it would take them to get airborne. Half hour after doors shut. Figure an hour from wheels up to wheels down. Someone (I assume the players don't - but someone has to do it) unloads the luggage and the equipment. Then board another bus to the hotel. Someone loads luggage from plane onto bus. figure 20 minutes to the hotel. So, 3-4 hours minimum. It's what, a 5 hour drive?

I really don't understand this Vargas over Garver decision at all.

I'm in the opposite camp.

I want another guy who can hit the ball a mile or two and I don't care what his OBP is at the moment.

When Sano went down we had Gimenez hit cleanup.

I'm Ok with letting Gimenez go

Then you can call up both Vargas and Garver.

Add two guys with Pop and two guys with G's and V's and R's and A's in the their last name.
