wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 Scraping the dumpster will eventually lead to finding total garbage. It might be a bit late for that. They've got to be close to scraping through the bottom of the dumpster by now, right?
wavedog Verified Member Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 Oh my - just tuned in to see if we were playing. This is about as bad as it gets. I think we have seen the last of Nik Turley - feel bad for us and for him.

Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 someday Turley might be ready, but, that day is not today. I hope he's ok after this.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 the pen can get 25 outs. Sure, anyone can get 25 outs, but how many runs will be given up in between 3 and 27?
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 Why didn't the trail running go? Baserunning blunder. Sure enough, next pitch is a hit.
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 Sure, anyone can get 25 outs, but how many runs will be given up in between 3 and 27?Beat me to it...
AZTwin Verified Member Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 Am I missing something or don't we need 26 outs from our bullpen?
ashbury Verified Member Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 Quick scouting report on Nik Turley, for the benefit of teams scouring the waiver wire: major league stuff, zero command. I tuned in with the score 4-0 and 1 out, and I found myself hoping Nik had the presence of mind to savor his final major league pitches, even if he's deeply disappointed in the moment. This has to be the end of the line, right?
DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 At work. Game started. Saw 4-0 top of the first and put the phone away. Don't think I'll be checking it again. I mean...really? Slegers to the 40 man getting a shot is a worse idea than Turley?
AZTwin Verified Member Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 Odds that Gimenez pitches today? I'll go 1:5 odds?

They've got to be close to scraping through the bottom of the dumpster by now, right?I feel like at this point they've rooted around in the dumpster so long that the garbage truck came by, accidentally picked them up, and tossed them in a landfill where they continue to dig up diamonds that later turn out to actually be shards of broken Zima bottles.

Blake Verified Member Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 Good grief, I was catching up on comments and the score was 4-0 Sox and when I checked back, it was 5-0 Sox. Time to sneak another peek.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 thank god we have bugs bunny out in CF
ashbury Verified Member Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 Ladies and gentlemen, Byron Buxton, major league centerfielder.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 Next up for the rotation: Dillon Gee.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 Ladies and gentlemen, Byron Buxton, major league centerfielder. I take it he saved some runs....
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 Next up for the rotation: Dillon Gee. agreed. No point in someone that has been in the system to get a shot. edit: my grammar is about as good as the Twins' SP....
gocgo Verified Member Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 Please let the Nik turley experiment be over.
ashbury Verified Member Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 I mean...really? Slegers to the 40 man getting a shot is a worse idea than Turley? No, but not a better idea either. And Slegers isn't IMO disposable, so if letting him develop a little more consistency in AAA has a chance of working, leave him there. He's not currently ready to keep the ERA below 7 in the majors.
Taildragger8791 Verified Member Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 Next up for the rotation: Dillon Gee.Can he get to Minnesota by 6:30?
ashbury Verified Member Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 I take it he saved some runs....Nothing spectacular, just a good read on a deep fly in left center. Some major league CFers would make that play, many would not. Very satisfying, and yeah, it probably kept the two baserunners from scoring.
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 Chip away, plenty of time. Assuming the bullpen doesn't give up 25 runs of course.
Jerr Verified Member Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 I'd hate to be the fans that waited all day for this...Or on this thread.....................
ashbury Verified Member Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 Odds that Gimenez pitches today? I'll go 1:5 odds?I like how you think one step ahead of the opposing manager. Send the team your resume.
ashbury Verified Member Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 the pen can get 25 outs.Unless the game is called early, they surely will.
Blake Verified Member Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 Unless the game is called early, they surely will. You're thinking "Mercy Rule?"
