It's been a quiet week at target field.

 

Unlike the opening series against the Royals, Chicago and Cleveland have not exactly been walking everyone in. And if they aren't beating themselves, why should we rub it in that we're the better team? They might do that in big east coast cities, but i like to think we are more civilized.

 

This portion of the game thread introduction has been brought to you by Ralph's pretty good groceries. If you can't find it at Ralph's you're probably better off without it.

 

Many have noticed Rosario has been laying off some of those outside pitches he used to occasionally deposit in the stands, but more often than not. We can attribute this to the natural mellowing agents found in Ketchup.

 

Now there is no need to pile it higher and deeper on Buxton and his batting woes. Suffice it to say following his next strike out, i would like to offer him a slice of Beebop-a-reebop rubarb pie.

 

Phil Hughes is toeing the rubber today, and his last start he allowed 4 runs to Detroit, while still getting the all important W. That has not gone unnoticed down at Bertha's Kitty Boutique.

 

And the final portion of the game thread intro is brought to you by Powdermilk Bisquets. Look for them in the nice blue uniforms that give shy players the strength to do what needs to be done.

Best lineup yet, imo. As long as Dozier is your leadoff hitter, this is the lineup I like most, other than MAYBE flipping Joe and Jorge. 

 

Smokey Joe and Polanco should DEFINITELY be swapped, given Mauer's .260 OBP and .213 OPS with 0 XBH.  That screams bottom third hitter to me.

I just um... i geuss i posted it.

 

I also have the urge to add something like "and Ray Goulding reminding you to hang by your thumbs." but i know that isn't quite right.

 

Folk are encouraged to add more PHC material if they care. Something 2 more hours until game time. A whole show would fit.

Woof, didn't realize Joe's OBP was so low. Santana's career OBP has 40points on that.

Those wanting to move Mauer way down in the order, keep in mind Mauer's BAbip is incredibly low and he's not striking out. Recipe for those hard hit balls to the OF to find some gaps soon.

If Mauer is taking the Maueresque at bats, I want him in front of Sano always. I want Sano to see a million pitches. 2-3 is fine, as I felt 4-5 was fine. Mauer hasn't gotten on much, and he hasn't hit the ball with authority at all this year, but he will see five pitches and lay off some close calls. Sano watching that will be helpful.

Not fair - that was during a Gibson start with Hughes pitching tonight! See a clunker tomorrow and I'll think you are on to something  :banghead:

3/5's of the rotation can't be clunkers.

 

Now 3-0. And I may need to find something else to do. Same old stink
