Since Hughes became a regular starter in 2010, his yearly ERA's are 4.19, 5.79, 4.19, 5.19, 3.52, 4.40, and so far this year, 5.85.

He's a #4 or #5 guy for his career, at best.

Have you factored in the Yankees-overrating-all-their-prospects thing?

Plouffe is OPSing. 795 this year.
How is that a hole?

He's been hurt, and come off a rehab where he went 1-8 against low-A pitching.  Maybe ease him back in a little in the 6 or 7 hole.  Yesterday's game wasn't exactly back up to speed for him.

Wow ... no way does our right fielder do that, even as athletic as he is.

DiscGolfer drinks.

Factored into the Twins overreaching for mediocre talent?  Definitely.

And he looks like him too. Now I won't be able to unsee it. Thanks.

I think part of the reason it's getting more difficult to even root for Murphy is that his body language reminds me so much of Brendan Harris throughout his struggles.

I was wondering why our right fielder just stood in the batter's box.

That ball landed pretty close to fair territory.

Murphy was rated a top ten NYY prospect three times. Once he was rated 4th (2013). Hughes was twice rated their number 1 prospect (05 and 06). Enough said.

Yeah, I'd make some comments about that p, but you and Chief have nixed those discussions for tonight's game thread. ;)

(And, well, I did, too, for that matter. Maybe I'll go make myself a root beer float.)

You know things are going wrong when Casey Fien is pitching in the 3rd inning.

Or any other bullpen pitcher. But it looks like we might be seeing JR Graham today...

So does this mean Hughes gets sent down?  He didn't even make it to the third before letting up 3 runs. Definitely looks waaaaay more hitable than Meyer.

LaVelle didn't like it when I made a similar remark on the tweet machine....I didn't bother taking it any further

That's how we'll know Mollie is just trolling us. If JR pitches in anything other than an emergency or blowout, while 3 legit prospects he was given couldn't be found with a search light.

It's always a tossup whether we're gonna get Bulldog Fien, whom I love, or just simply Dog Fien, whom I less than love.

Oh You can comment on that stuff... Just can't call him a *&^*$*$&

(And now I'm thinking about ice cream)

He gave up twice as many runs as the kid, in less innings.  Seems fair.

Good shut down inning. Again. That should be a new stat. Runs allowed after your team scores. We'd be bottom of the pile.

only 2 runs given up that time....  progress

Yeah... If this pattern holds... 2 more in the 4th and 1 in the 5th and 6th and we mow them down in the 7th and 8th and they lose a run in the 9th.

Twins win 12-11

Lotta math there, but I can see it.

I wonder what this team is going to look like next May 4. Hope it's a bit different.

This year hasn't been fun thus far... but I think the Twins are setting up for a long run.

Big rally on the way here...Murphy is going to hit here.  I'm serious.

I was just kidding.  Meant to say it will be another strike out with bat on shoulder.

I saw a recipe for margarita cupcakes. That might be fun to try!

Margarita cupcakes sound interesting. For sure I'm making Mike's margarita recipe tomorrow.
