All right, I want all of yous to listen up! I think lot of TDers would agree that these forums have been unraveling lately. There are a lot of negative nellies out there shelling out cynicism and trying to pass it off as legitimate criticism. Well, I've had it! It's less than a week until the Spring Training schedule kicks off, and I've got some spring cleaning of my own to take care of.

 

From now on, if you've got something negative to say, you better have some damn good stats to back it up. If you're going to deride Joe Mauer, you had better respect the man's legitimate health problems.  If you're going to squabble, whine, and throw dirt on other posters, you'd better take it outside, becuase I'm coming to get you sad sacks.

 

Now, you may wonder who is this mysterious vigilante and what does he/she stand for? Is she/he a new moderator? No, sir. I'm no moderator. I'm just a man, i mean, man/woman just like any of you. But I'm full of optimism, and spirit, and piss and vinegar, and I'm here to clean up this dump! 

 

I came here to do two things: shine a light on people being total bummers, and chew gum. And, I'm all out of gum.

Also, since I can't use an actual whistle, let it be known that when I type "Peeeep! Peeeeeeep!" that's the sound of a whistle.

There's only room for one of us in this town, Negativity Police. I'm not giving up easily..... I'm a Texan now, and the only way we settle disputes down here is a duel. Name the time and place, partner. I'll be there with my super soaker.

Spirow Agnew was a third-string catcher for the Washington Hucksters in the old Amurican Leeg from 1969-1973. He couldn't hit and he couldn't catch but he was known for his rhubarby language from the bench - which it turned out years after the fact - Yogi Berra had ghost written half his taunts at the opposing team.

 

Here is a picture of the catcher who led the team in those years, wearing his baseball hat and all:
