Just getting a jump on the news.  Mark it down. It’s happening before Sept 1.  Most likely for the home series against the White Sox. But not impossible that he joins the team in Sacramento or even as soon as this weekend in San Diego.

Edit to add: Apologies for the original post. The Twins are currently sitting in the final wild card spot. They have a legit shot at making the playoffs. It seems imperative that Jenkins gets called up before Sept 1 so that a) he can help them make a run at the playoffs and b) he’s eligible for the playoffs should they get there.

It’s not if but when.  The when has to be in San Diego tomorrow, in Sacramento Monday, or at home against the White Sox next weekend.

this is obviously click-bait garbage. As if there isn't enough BS on the internet.

I'll add a big boo.

Before the title of the thread was changed... It said "Twins Call Up Jenkins".

I didn't open the thread to see that it was false. Instead I read the headline and immediately jumped into my fantasy baseball league to check his availability and I grabbed Jenkins off the wire dropping Andrew Monasterio.

Then I opened the thread... Saw the headline was ********. I then went back to my fantasy team and dropped Jenkins, Monasterio is on waivers for 3 days and I had to grab Matt McLain to take his place.

It's OK because I was going to replace Monasterio anyway. It's not OK because... the title was ********.

Sorry Brian.  But you should keep Jenkins anyway.

What good is a fantasy team if you can't make fantasy transactions?

Call him up and tell us how he does!

I'm pretty sure a player only needs to be in the organization by Sept 1st, to be eligible for the playoffs, not on the major league roster.

And i am comfortable going out on two limbs... First is Jenkins will be called up before September 1st... 2027.

And how's Wallner doing? I kind imagine if he is comprable, that he also gets a chance to reestablish his cred at the mlb level. Who is actually knocking harder on the door?

Wallner looking like Lurch when fielding a ball the failing he flounders in.

Wallner just set the Saints single season HR record. AAA been bery bery good to him. MLB? I don’t know.

Is it true that if they decide to promote him to the majors this year, they would need to add him to the 40-man roster first, which would make him ineligible for AAA assignments next year?

Entering action on Friday, the Twins are tied with the Rangers for the third and final Wild Card spot in the American League. A spark to the club’s outfield group couldn’t hurt as Twins outfielders are 17th in OPS and second to last in homers (2) and RBIs (9) over the past two weeks. Jenkins could certainly provide that boost.

I don't think that is true, except from the viewpoint of lock out. While it is a factor to consider, i think we probably have worse problems in that case.

It's convoluted because of the potential lockout. Any player on a 40-man roster would be ineligible to play in the minor league during an MLB lockout. That's related to the MLBPA, and has nothing to do with option years.

Once any potential lockout is settled, then option years would work just like normal and Walker Jenkins still has 3 option years remaining, so he could theoretically be optioned to AAA during the 2027 season (and two future years)

Correct.

In case of a lockout (presumably Dec 1), teams cant have any contact with any players on the 40 man MLB roster.

That extends to any contact. Medical facilities and/or treatment, rehab, offseason workouts, contract negotiations, etc.

That would extend to playing MiLB if it lasts tbat long.

40 man rosters will not be playing organized baseball come spring 2027 if there's a lockout (or strike) in effect.
