Steve Drumwright Twins Daily Editor Posted 53 minutes ago Posted 53 minutes ago For the second time this month, Byron Buxton is being sidelined by a hip injury. It couldn't come a worse time for the Minnesota Twins. The Twins placed the All-Star center fielder on the 10-day injured list Wednesday due to a right hip impingement. Infielder Tristan Gray was called up from Triple-A St. Paul. Buxton has been bothered for most of the last three months with the hip issue, but he played through it before landing on the IL on July 6 with a strained right hip. He came back July 20 and played in seven games since, hitting just .160 in that span. Without Buxton, the Twins are down their biggest bat as they make an unexpected push toward a postseason spot. He is slashing .263/.320/.544 with 25 homers and 45 RBIs in 82 games. Gray is back from Triple-A, where he has been since July 20 as he went down when Buxton came back. Gray has a slash line of .232/.271/.333 with four homers and 29 homers in 63 games with the Twins. View full rumor

tony&rodney Old-Timey Member Posted 33 minutes ago Posted 33 minutes ago My biggest concern is that Ryan Kriedler has been playing a decent shortstop, even though his bat has been mostly dead. If the Twins shift Kriedler to CF and use Tristan Gray at SS ..... that is a problem. I have no problem with Gray getting two starts per week, but there are limits. Cory Engelhardt and FlyingFinn 2
umterp23 Verified Member Posted 33 minutes ago Posted 33 minutes ago Avg less than 90 games a year at this moment from what I can tell. Your back up CF options better bring their best as his hip will linger for rest of year. Front office says we are buyers, have to sell something to buy, sure wish Jenkins or even Wallner was called up before Gray. Buyers mentality means you don’t reinstate Gray
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted 29 minutes ago Posted 29 minutes ago At least they didn’t wait 4-5 days first before the IL.
AceWrigley Verified Member Posted 28 minutes ago Posted 28 minutes ago I guess where ever he (Tristan Gray) plays, we can call it "the gray area".
alexlegge Verified Member Posted 21 minutes ago Posted 21 minutes ago Not calling up Jenkins here feels very much like a missed opportunity... LivableWage, Greglw3 and Cory Engelhardt 2 1
Greglw3 Verified Member Posted 10 minutes ago Posted 10 minutes ago Why did they not call up Jenkins, such an obvious move? Cory Engelhardt 1
Cory Engelhardt Verified Member Posted just now Posted just now Hopefully he stays on the list until he feels as close to 100% as possible. He hasn't been right for a few weeks now. Get him better asap. And agreed with others, I'd much rather see Jenkins up now instead of Gray.
