  1. Because even as an arbitration player Joe is going to cost more than our cheap owners want to spend.
  2. The time to extend Ryan was two years ago. The value was there and ownership missed it. Be that as it may today is today and this 2026 version of the Twins isn’t going anywhere. I still think it is a mistake to hold him much after the all star break. There is a window of opportunity to get max value for him. As a fan I would love to keep him but it doesn’t make sense.
  3. So many things involved here that the average fan just has no real idea what all went into this decision. I have no idea how coachable SWR really is. Personalities matter when performance isn’t measuring up and we just don’t know the behind the scenes stuff. The poor guy had a tape worm surgically removed last season. He actually pitched effectively once he got back from that. This year not so much.
  4. Joe Ryan’s trade value will only go down the longer you hold him. The bullpen demolition done last year pretty much determines the path forward from this point. If you wanted to extend Joe then that should have been done 2 to 3 years ago. The hands of time don’t turn backwards. If I were a team looking to acquire his services I would be willing to pay more now knowing I have him for two postseason runs as opposed to just a rental for one postseason run providing he stays healthy.
  5. One has to ask if you were Joe Ryan would you sign an extension with the twins?
  6. While that is true, why not make the most of the asset you have instead of letting that asset depreciate. I think Ryan’s injury scare and Lopez’s injury highlight this pretty well. If the Twins keep Ryan till fee agency and make him a qualifying offer they get a compensation draft pick. That would be a waste of an opportunity in my book. Once again the 26 Twins will not make the playoffs. 27 perhaps, but this current lineup has some holes that need filled.
  7. It would be front office malpractice to not trade both Jeffers and Ryan prior to the trade deadline. This team as it is will not make the playoffs. Trading Ober should also be considered since we are trying to save money.
  8. The Ryan extension window has long passed. Sorry just the way things are. The real world sucks.
  9. Logically speaking you are right. Ownership is going to do nothing of the sort.
  10. Just as damning is the bullpen that they fielded in 26. Zero chance this is a pen that could win a division title.
  11. His contract for 2027 is an option year for the Twins from my understanding. They likey don’t use the option if he has surgery.
  12. When ownership is this big of a cluster@@@@ it’s pretty hard for front office to overcome. For all we know Falvey might have wanted to sign some legitimate bullpen help but was denied. The do nothing approach is going to make this season the most miserable possible.
  13. If Ryan needs TJ then his Twins career is over. It would be a shame if that is the case.
  14. Nothing is going to be easy for this Twins team. When you are counting on Topa to get the last three outs the percentages are rather low.
