Well after losing a half a billion dollars on the Twins the Pohlads need a break. I think they sell off further. There is no way they plan to put a winning team on the field in 26.

Rocco Baldelli Wasn't the Problem
Glorybound replied to Matt Braun's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The base running after the trade deadline was a message from Rocco that he was going to do things his way. I wonder what it would have been like if he was allowed to do things his way the whole 7 year tenure. Might have been quite a bit different. -

Well at least we now know there is some money available “when the time is right”. I know some think that the new minority owners are going to help bring some money in to get this right again. I personally believe that the new owners likely don’t give two flips about the team winning and are only interested in their return on investment. Consequently I see some post season trades being made that will get payrolls down much further still. I don’t think there is a plan by ownership to put even a competitive team on the field the next two seasons. I am sorry that is just what I see.

This franchise has never been farther from a parade than today. Ownership will have to change to direct the ship on a course for a championship. If that doesn’t happen I hate to tell you but more seasons like this last one are in the future. “Right sizing” the payroll will continue next season and beyond.

Joe Ryan Is Failing to Answer His Biggest Question
Glorybound replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
It would take an extraordinary over pay for Ryan to sign an extension with the Twins. -
That’s a lot of what ifs. Likely something good will come from the young talent pool but reality says cost cutting continues. Sands hasn’t been right for last 10 days which makes me wonder if he isn’t pitching hurt. Lopez came out last night with forearm tightness, the Festa injury likely is career threatening and on and on we go. Really hard for me to see much light at end of the tunnel for the next season. 100 losses looks like a lock for next year.

Sources: Twins Still Playing
Glorybound replied to RandBalls Stu's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
All kidding aside. Would it not be better to just cancel the 26 season for the Twins? Just give everyone a w that is on the schedule. Really hard to see anything good coming. Looking forward to a 100 loss season is just hard for me I guess. -
I wouldn’t give up on Mathews as a starter just yet. I don’t see a scenario where Lopez is not traded. A far as Festa is concerned it sounds like his career is in serious doubt do to Thorasic Outlet Syndrome.

Angels 12, Twins 2: Oy vey...
Glorybound replied to Matthew Taylor's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
So we have expanded rosters and we are a non playoff team and we have position players pitching. I don’t get it, I just don’t get it. And Monday was an off day.- 44 replies

So I get it the only way to determine value of a young promising starting pitcher is ERA. Your logic follows the gm and ownership well. The progression Ryan has made is more than a stat line will ever measure. Look inside an individual and see the competitive nature they have and little bit at someone’s ability to learn and improve. Statistics are nice but sometimes winners are necessary to acquire if you want a winning team. Joe Ryan has the makeup to be a winner for whichever team he plays for.

No the Twins will not get any bargains on Ryan today. The time to extend him has long., long passed by two years. Likely he is traded this off season. Hopefully they don’t get a Johann Santana type of return.

Joe Musgrave was extended 5 yrs. Sonny Gray was extended before the Twins acquired him. Pablo Lopez was extended back when their ownership was trying to win. Those are a few that I know of. It can be done but not if you are not counting pennies.
