  1. I would say Buck is about 55%. Time to let the youth have a crack. If that means IL then so be it. The bullpen was bound to have a set back or two.
  2. Patience will be rewarded I feel. This season is becoming the proving ground for a solid team. I still don’t think they make the playoffs but I have to give them credit for a team that while is often frustrating, are fun to watch.
  3. I have to give Zoll some real credit for the deadline deals that they made. This bullpen is decent since the deadline. I think back to all the deadlines that came and went with Falvley and not much positive was ever accomplished. The defense is borderline horrible yet here we are.
  4. I think they have painted themselves into a corner in this one. I guess we will have to see how it plays out. Going all in has consequences as they are about to find out.
  5. With Joe Ryan and Buck on the shelf this team is going to have to rediscover itself. It’s a long way to the top. The next ten games are going to tell a lot whether this team can hang with the top of the division.
  6. Without Buck this offense is toothless. Hard to play meaningful games in September if you are out of it August.
  7. Lewis won’t make that mistake again. It’s just one of those things that happens and experience is a better teacher than any coach.
  8. Amazing ending for sure. With the exception of two swings of the bat the Twins were completely outplayed this series. Time to wake the rest of the bats up.
  9. I am not getting the feeling that this team is playoff bound. Buck’s hip hasn’t been right for a while and his performance shows it.
  10. I still don’t think this is a playoff team. I think trading for rental starting pitching is more than a bit foolish. If they can’t get Buck healthy they for sure won’t make the playoffs.
  11. The 26 Twins don’t have enough bullpen to win close games down the stretch. The time to trade Ryan is now when his value is the greatest. If they still had Varland and a healthy Banda then I might think differently. At this point it’s the hand they have been dealt time to recognize it for what it is.
  12. It’s not about winning or losing a trade that makes this deal just down right stupid. It’s the fact that the Twins were going to need a closer after trading away Duran. Varland was cheap and controllable, both of what the Twins need. Not having a closer this season is very telling how serious they are about winning in 26. Any one with a bit of foresight could see Varland was capable of some high leverage late inning possibilities. Those guys don’t grow on trees by the way. You can’t fix stupid.
  13. Is he healthy enough to turn loose? He is relatively young yet so I think they are trying to be careful not to compromise his future. It’s not like his team is in first place and he is needed to keep his team on top of the division.
  14. I am for upgrading the roster anyway possible. Having Varland on this years team might very well have them in first place in their division today. So with that said there has to be a plan or all the trades in the world will likely put you back to square one. I think last years trade deadline plan was written on a napkin and it got so smudged no one could read it. Have a plan and execute it.
