Do we have any sense of whether the extreme smoke is going to cause them to postpone the game?

Edit to add:  Considering Bailey is kind of a smoke and mirrors guy, maybe this will play to his strengths.

The air currently is still at hazard levels but should be dropping throughout the day. However, it will still be at very unhealthy levels at game time tonight. Tomorrow should be much, much better. It is very hazy, too. If we get some rain between now and game time that should help.

They played in horrible (but not that horrible); conditions in Philly last night.

The smoke has cleared out for the most part. It was at its worst on Wednesday evening - Thursday mid afternoon. I don’t normally get bothered by the smoke, but it was so thick on Thursday morning it gave me a pounding headache.

They play in Chicago, though, so the effects here are a day behind you. It’s still very hazy and the AQI is still at hazard levels. It won’t get down to moderate until tomorrow, although it should drop out of hazardous to very unhealthy by game time. Many things were canceled yesterday.

AQI is actually supposed to get really bad again in Chicago tomorrow evening (we play in the afternoon). Currently Sunday kind of looks like the worst of the 3 games, but smoke forecasting is pretty difficult.

This is the current, specific to Wrigley’s zipcode. It’s dropped over 100 points in the last 1-2 hrs. We maybe get some rain, that will help. My guess is they play tonight. The forecast at this site is different than what @amjgt is using as it is forecasting moderate tomorrow.

bummer that Buxton has not returned to the lineup yet.

Does anyone know why Gray keeps getting the start over Kreidler? I can't find anything hitting or defense where Gray beats Kreidler. What am I missing?

Gray hits LH and they need to maintain the platoon advantage, defense doesn't matter in this case according to their actions.

Gray OPS vs RHP = .619,  Kreidler OPS vs RHP = .823

I'm not the one making out the lineup card, take it up with the analytic nerds in the front office.  Look at the trends of when Gray starts and this is how it has been working out.

Bailey has lost velocity he should get to pitch through a smoke screen.

Hazmat Suit Night hopefully not coming to a ballpark near you.

I'm not surprised that Ryan isn't set for this series.  Although his name isn't penciled in yet, I would expect him to pitch Monday night in Cleveland.  If that is the case, he would be scheduled for game two against the A's and game 1 in Seattle right before the trade deadline.  Three good starts against good teams to give you the best chance to buy a little at the deadline.

I won’t be surprised if we don’t see Buxton until Cleveland. Shelton already hinted at that.

I will be surprised if Buxton is back before the homestand.  Shelton always makes it seem like he is close without saying it outright.  Buxton should have been on IL after the Colorado series, they are always indecisive on his injuries, then when he does go on the IL, there is no sense of urgency to get him back.

And I, for one, have faith in Tristan Gray!

We will arrange for counseling for you.

Brewers hadn't decided on playing as of this afternoon and they have the roof. Ouch.

It better not be postponed! I've been going through some serious withdrawals! Gnawing on coffee tables like a dog levels of boredom! Dangerous when I spend my whole workday around them...
