We say it in jest (sort of) all the time, but we have so many players who rarely get on base, I genuinely think they aren’t prepared to actually run the bases.

I asked it on the GDT, but what did the team do during spring training? Or was the “new way” just not working on the fundamentals of the game at all???!

You're misinterpreting that phrase "new way."  The intention of the front office was, let's find a "new way" to lose games every day!

I was genuinely excited when, for $100 a season, I could stream my Twins from where ever I'm at... but through business and procrastination I hadn't signed up yet... And if I'm being honest, I'm damn glad I haven't, and likely won't.

This team is AWFUL. From ownership to front office to players. Just. AWFUL. They deserve none of my money and even less of my time.

Why, oh why, do i not have your powers of procrastination?

Jose Miranda makes barely over the league minimum.

Also, if mental errors or lack of concentration got a person fired, would any of us have jobs?

How many workers make what Miranda does? League minimum is still a nice payday.

This roster is going to get somebody fired and it will probably be Rocco. However, this roster was built by the front office. Not Rocco’s fault that he can’t field a team of 26 major leaguers.

True, but either he or his coaches need to teaching/emphasizing the basic fundamentals of fielding, running the bases, bunting, etc. Right now this team is looking like some sort of rookie league bunch.

He's leading the team with a .370 OBP. Isn't that what you want from your leadoff hitter? I think the Wallner as leadoff hitter experiment has been the most successful thing they've tried.

Yeah, I was a bit skeptical about Wallner as leadoff batter, but so far he has performed much better than I expected. That's not a bad OBP at all.

Number 50 in MLB. Fabulous. Doesn't that prove how terrible this line up is? France is .345 and people are ready to get rid of him. Wallner is .362.

This team is a trainwreck.  We need to let the young players play and see IF they can play.  The "veterans" are a joke just like the manager.  I guess I am a joke too for buying this Twins team the past couple of years.

Let's say the Twins lose 100+ games this year.  Pohlad is still the owner next year.  Baldelli may or may not be here. Falvey of course will be back if Pohlad still owns. What will they do to field a team next year, if this is the best they could do this year?

If you're going solely on OBP, however 16K's in 48 AB's, zero SB, not ideal leadoff numbers. Throw out runs scored because no one is hitting behind him. Ideally he is in the middle of the lineup and move Buxton to the bottom until he heats up.

I too have not spent the $100 for Twins.tv.  Chose to wait and see if they were worth watching.  Still waiting.  I knew they were bad...but, not this bad.  I can not stand watching  3 hours of bad baseball.

There are lots more ways to spend this new found time.  Have you checked out HG TV?

All I can say is that I'm glad my phone provider give me MLB TV because I certainly wouldn't pay for this. I usually come to town for father's day and attend a game but told family let's go to a steak dinner instead.

Watching this game was like watching a little league game. Listening to Rocco talk about Paddock what was he watching,I saw a pitcher going 3-2 on hitter after hitter. I'm tired of the booth piling on the praise for this team. They are a bunch of you know what kissers.

All the talk about Correa this and that will be over soon. He wants to win and can't with this little league team. By June he will be dropping the no trade clause and want out.

This is a lifeless team and the management has lost them. They have earned 5th place and look like they will remain there.

I get that, and I get that if the Twins don't turn things around within (potentially) weeks, firing Baldelli will just happen because that's what teams do.

Who makes the lineup? Who comes up with substitutions, etc? That is all the manager, but 1.) the manager doesn't determine the roster, and who those bench options are. The manager also isn't the one not hitting. He's not the one pitching. He's not the one fielding.

Priorities and strategies? That'd be the front office, GMs, POB, managers, coaches, advisors.

Who decides if batting practice or infield is taken. The game time, the weather the training staff, players, manager,

Jogging down the bases on GB or FO... Trainers in conjunction with the manager, front office, etc.

Yes, the manager is the one who pretty much always takes the blame and gets fired, but we all know that it's so much more than that. We also know that it's largely on the players... or on the front office for the players on the roster that are responsible.

You can’t fire an entire team as quickly as you can replace a manager. Logistics matter.

I don’t get the “save Baldelli” comments at all.

He has had time and doesn’t have much success to show for it.

Plus this team is worst in baseball for a significant stretch of last year and now this year.

Pointing out that a change in manager might not bring results doesn’t matter. They can’t get worse, and you have to do something that signals you want to win (yes even in Minnesota).

This is my first year ever I have yet to watch a game live at this stage of the season. I don't even watch play by play on MLB. However I do check the box score every night along with the box score off all our minor league affiliates.

Let's just say, I'm riding the bench right now.

He makes $783,110 this year. He is in the top 1% of all US wage earners, earning about 10 times more than the average US worker. The expectations are commensurate with his salary. This is a wild comment.

How many people in the U.S. could do the job as well as Jose Miranda? There are 1,000 players who play the game at the MLB level per season. So we'll say 1:350,000 putting Miranda at top 0.00003% of performers. Seems like 1% money is fair?

Way too much rage around TD these days.

Ditto. LFGM.

Everyone should have an NL team. The Twins don't deserve anyone's attention.

No one is complaining about his salary that I can see. The comparison was made by another poster to average people. I have zero problem with ballplayers making big bucks to play a game. Society has decided that sports are more valuable than other walks of life. But you can’t say “well you’ve made a mistake at your job too”. Yeah, everyone has. But when you make 10x what the average person makes, you have 10x less leeway. If you made 10 brain farts a day at your job, you’d probably be canned or sent for more training. Miranda was sent for more training. Seems like a fair deal when you mess up on the basics of your job. Maybe he can learn how to run the bases in AAA and come back when he’s got his head more in the game. And he’d probably not have been sent down if he were hitting better than .167 with 6 hits on the season. But you can’t perform poorly and make mental gaffes. Maybe another guy can come up and give you more for your money.

The salary comment was a response to another poster's suggestion that since Miranda makes league minimum, mental mistakes are ok.
