Gray gets to pitch for a contender.

Cardinals had to pay $20M of his remaining contract and got a 26 year old RHSP with an ERA north of 5 and a decent looking Lefty prospect in high A ball.

Not an overwhelming return for Gray.

Have no idea if this takes the Red Sox out on a potential Ryan trade....

Don't want to get too far off topic, but Ryan compares favorably to Gray in results in the last two years, he's six and a half years younger and will cost considerably less than Gray for the two years of team control. Ryan certainly has much more trade value.

Good for Gray. The Rose Hose are a much better bet to contend than the Cardinals. It also probably diminishes Joe Ryan to the Red Sox trade talk.

Another one of those back-loaded contract. Gray earns $31MM 2026. I had forgotten those terms.

Not quite sure what Dodgers are going to do when those chickens come home to roost.

Jonah Bride signed a minor league contract with the Rangers.

With Semien just traded, I suppose there is opportunity if Jonah decides 2026 is the time for another career year like he had with Miami.

Also, with the Rangers having non-tendered Jonah Heim, they may feel deficient in the below-the-radar category of Players Named Jonah, which the Twins seem to have given up on.

Out of the Jonah competition, but the Twins have both of the guys named Kody in MLB history.

As long as I'm on this thread, former Twin Scott Blewett signed a minor league deal with the Cardinals. He's mostly pitched well in his few chances in the majors.

Yes, he has. He's one of those puzzling pitchers that bounces from team to team each season, but puts up good stats when he gets the chance.

Two very obscure former Twins have signed contracts:

Beau Burrows (5 appearances with the Twins in 2021) re-signed a minor league deal with the Pirates.

Caleb Boushley (2 appearances with the 2024 Twins) signed to pitch in Korea.

Maybe the name of this thread needs to be changed from "Where Are They Now?" to "Who Are They, Again?"  😁

That's an appropriate suggestion. Too many of these players passed through the Twins organization VERY quickly!

Just to be clear, I like the thoroughness of the thread.  No, I would not change its title.

I will listen to every game that Gray pitches against the Yanks. Love the grit and trash talking.

“What did factor into my decision to come to Boston, it feels good to me to go to a place now where, you know what, it’s easy to hate the Yankees, right?” he said. “It’s easy to go out and have that rivalry and go into it with full force, full steam ahead. I like the challenge.”

I love Polanco but $40MM for two years? Over paid him.

Agreed, both in loving Jorge and in the Mets overpaying.  But it's the Mets, that's what they do.

MLBTR had him projected to get 3 years, $42M so it is an overpay by a desperate and dysfunctional org.

Now the Japanese fans can watch baseballs go in orbit by catchers throwing around the horn after Sano whiffs at strike three four times per game.
