Dave The Dastardly Verified Member Posted May 29, 2024 Posted May 29, 2024 Going Bananas I always believed that Minnesota monkeys took it on the chin… or, uh, a little lower down. I mean how many times have you heard “It’s cold enough to freeze the cojones off a brass monkey” epithet here in the Iceberg State? And that’s sort of the crotch, uh, crux of the problem for our wild monkey herd in Minnesota… we’re running out of breeding stock. And that’s why you don't see a monkey swinging through the trees in Minnesota state parks anymore. But you remember that old adage… whenever you think you got it bad, somebody else has it worse? Well, Mexican monkeys have it worse; their dropping dead out of their trees. Can you imagine? You lay out the big bucks to spend a couple weeks in Mexico to escape Minnesota winters, you’re out hiking in the woods in shorts and T-shirt and Bam! A dead monkey falls on your head! That’s enough to give you the shivers. Which defeats the purpose of going to Mexico to avoid the shivers. You’d be better off staying home in Minnesota right next to the wood stove and knitting fur-lined jockstraps for our monkeys. So you gotta wonder, would everyone involved be better off if we transported Mexican monkeys to Minnesota for the summer? If we brought them up in the spring they could get one summer of breeding in, you know, monkeying around, to replenish our wild monkey herd, and then as a reward we could send them back to Mexico equipped with climbing gear and safety nets. Maybe have the snowbirds fly ‘em back. DNR would probably foot the bill for the airfare… you know, for rescuing our monkey herd from extinction. Sounds like a win-win-win situation to me. And that's exactly what we want from our Twins: Win-Win-Win Throwing Bananas From The Apex Twins: Ober 5-2 ERA 4.33 54 K Royals: Lugo 8-1 ERA 1.74 61 K PDX Twin, Hosken Bombo Disco, Brock Beauchamp and 4 others 7
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted May 29, 2024 Posted May 29, 2024 Seth Lugo is 8-1? What in tarnation is happening here? BTW, another win please. David HK, Twins_Fan_in_NJ and Richie the Rally Goat 1 2
stringer bell Verified Member Posted May 29, 2024 Posted May 29, 2024 Another win would claim the series and clinch a winning month of May. Lugo has been outstanding. I can’t imagine he’ll sustain this. Ober owes the Royals one. Let’s hope he twirls a good one this evening. Doctor Gast, Mortimerkenny21, USAFChief and 1 other 4

Checking out the game log. It is easier to go 8-1 when most of your games are against the White Sox, the A's, Tigers, Astros, Blue Jays, and Angels. I'd like to thing the Twins will give him more of a challenge. But the last time Ober played the Royals, he gave up 8 runs in 1.1 innings. Let's hope they both regress a bit tonight. But he also threw 6 shutout innings vs Twins earlier in the year. It looks like his one blemish was vs Orioles. No surprise there
Jocko87 Verified Member Posted May 29, 2024 Posted May 29, 2024 I haven't looked at a single piece of information to support this theory but I feel like Lugo is the AL Ranger Suarez. Best couple months of their baseball lives. Good pitchers but not Bob Gibson. Regression incoming, starting today. Ranger got his first owie over the weekend. Lugo is due-go.

Schmoeman5 Verified Member Posted May 29, 2024 Posted May 29, 2024 Royal fans upset with Buxtons contact with Vinnie P last night. I watched it several times. No way is Buxton intentionally trying to hurt anyone. Especially with his history. But his route to first wasn't the best. A few commented that he needed to be plunked. Buxton was concerned obviously. Talking to both Vinny and Perez. I didn't think twice about it till I saw that some Royals fans were upset on X. Patzky 1

My first impression was, oh jeez, Buxton is hurt from the collision. Secondarily, are they concerned they'd throw at him? Probably overreacting but Buxton history is cruel.. Doctor Gast 1
