Morneau said it before Jackson's first pitch - he threw 30+ pitches on Sunday and was coming out for a high leverage spot on Tuesday - fatigue was going to be a factor. At his best, Jackson is iffy in a big spot but when he's already on fumes - had no business pitching that inning.

All this talk about the 'best' bullpen in baseball after the off-season additions and it's the holdovers - Jax, Stewart, Duran, Sands, Funderburk, Thielbar and Duran that have been effective either all the time or at various times for some of them. Topa - injured. Jackson and Okert - less than impressive. Staumont - MIA.

What an absolutely awful off-season.

You're right. Bowman and the other guy, his name escapes me the ex Met, have already come and gone as well.

While Pagan has sucked this year I really feel if he had stayed we'd find him extremely helpful. Hope Brock makes it back on time/maybe Louie can help.

Tonkin - former Met / Twin.

Thanks. Since I can't remember stuff lately 😉 help me here.. didn't the Twins lose a heartbreaker against Seattle at Target Field last year too.. one which could have sunk their season? Some teams just have it in for you.. Detroit is another.

Ober only going 5 set up the bullpen meltdown. It’s not his fault really, but in a similar situation he went seven innings (against the Angels?).

Optimally, Jackson shouldn’t have been used and later Alcalá wouldn’t have been used for more than one inning.

It wouldn’t surprise me if staff changes are made.

The bullpen finally showed some cracks last night.

And by cracks, I mean the dam broke.

Jay Jackson was the guy I was advocating cutting lose first upon the return of Duran and Thielbar.

He's 36-years-old with next to no track record and his velocity is down 2 MPH this year. Ugh, this team hust has to cling to guaranteed contracts even when they are minimal.

There are some sketchy options for the pen, but they don't get much sketchier than Jackson.

Bullpen relief is here. Staumont called up! (Let's hope Paddack can go 8-9 innings today)

I'm not the fan of Staumont that others are. His career BB% suggests he's going to get this team into quite a few dicey situations.

Margot getting the start in left. Does he have compromising pictures of Rocco or something?

Getting his playing time in the hopes he improves and becomes an asset lter in the summer.

But also likely it is his turn to be pinch hit for when the game is on the line, if that makes ya happier?

(From a reminiscin' perspective, i wonder where Bark's Lounge (sp?) might be should we wish to entertain ourselves with hypothetical speculation on nature of such pictures. Perhaps shaking hands with Gonzo the Great? Or Barney the Dinosaur?)

KC and Cleveland both winners already today. Time for the boys to get rid of the sausage and selfies and rely on focus and skill instead of superstition and narcissism. After a rough start to the year, Kirby is on his usual roll, with a 0.50 ERA his last 3 starts.

Margot in left. Ouch. Well, that is the handicap, I guess, (like we need to be handicapped).

The Topa thing has me really puzzled.

If only Martin would have jumped higher and caught that Raleigh fly ball in the 7th....... it was just a little thing......

“Obviously, we've played the last two weeks of really clean, really good baseball,” Okert said. “So I feel like after watching that for the last two weeks, it looks even worse. We've just got to clean up those little things and move on to tomorrow.”

Funny how when Lewis hits a grand slam he is the stud and hero, but when the other team does it to the Twins, it is just our pitchers fault, and not the batter's glory. The 3-2 slider is a strikeout if the batter swings through the ball, ala Devers a couple of days ago (albeit, that one was low midde and just below the zone and this one was a middle middle hanger, but many batters miss, just the same).

Right! Cy Young has more career losses than any other pitcher. But we give people the Cy Young award when they are the best pitchers in the division.

If he wants him to swing thru that slider he probably shouldn't hang it letter high.  Good piece of hitting by Raleigh, but he served up a beach ball.
