RickOShea Verified Member Posted May 9, 2024 Posted May 9, 2024 Umpires are graded by the tip money they receive from players. h2oface 1

Except maybe by the two college students who do the twitter thing, that I don't know. But MLB is not grading umpires from the box on tv not the white box on tv, the pitch f/x system. the box is just a representation of it. nevermind. like I said.........

MLB certainly grades the umps, purportedly they use those grades to determine postseason crews but I'm skeptical. And the 'college kids on twitter' (lol) use the same data MLB does - from statcast. h2oface 1

I have said the top and bottom of the white square on TV is worthless. Side to side, who knows? The umpires miss so many leaning to much depending righty or lefty h2oface 1

2wins87 Verified Member Posted May 9, 2024 Posted May 9, 2024 I like bringing Thielbar in to face Rojas to start the inning but why leave him in to face Julio?

h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2024 Posted May 9, 2024 Tons of contact off Jax lately....... a little scary
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted May 9, 2024 Posted May 9, 2024 I also like using Jax against 3-4 hitters here instead of waiting for the 8th and asking someone else to get these outs

CCHOF5yearstoolate Verified Member Posted May 9, 2024 Posted May 9, 2024 No idea why they've had Jax start throwing changeups.

Yes, but if you haven't faced 3 and get brought back in to start a new inning you have to face 3 total. from MLB USAFChief 1
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2024 Posted May 9, 2024 That was a bad 0-2 pitch and he got away with it USAFChief 1

2wins87 Verified Member Posted May 9, 2024 Posted May 9, 2024 Jax getting to 2 strikes on Haniger and throwing 4 straight balls was the main issue. Raleigh is not the best matchup for him. Can't let that happen USAFChief and Schmoeman5 2
