Great game. Keep Correa at lead off. Buxton does not appear injured in any way, shape or form. Maybe this will be the game that reenergizes Kepler, but we have said that before as well..

For people who believe the old saying about winning 60, losing 60, and it’s the other 40 that count, this was probably a game in the win 60 group.

It appears that the players want to lead the hitting meetings. The optics on this aren’t good as Popkins just got sent to the corner. And it took the players to do something not the manager or front office?

This was the result of the closed door meeting Baldelli had with the team so I don’t think the manager was left out of the decision. But Popkins? Was he officially left out?

Let's not get too excited about this win. All the runs came early and all but 1 run off a right hand pitcher. Still had 11 strike outs and 5 innings of no offense. Lopez was shaky early, but was able to pitch thru it. If Correa can start games leading off with good at bats maybe that will help. Julien seems to be taking way too many pitches in middle of the zone time to sit him. One good at bat for Joey Strike Out doesn't mean he is coming around. We did get good news about Cleveland,Detroit and Chicago all losing.

Because the meeting was "players only", I would assume no coaches were allowed to sit in.

That usually means no media but it could also mean coaches. But Baldelli was there so my question is … were any of the coaches there or not? I haven’t read the news on this so if someone had a more detailed account of who was/wasn’t there I’d be interested to know

I was unable to watch or listen to the game so I dont feel qualified to comment on the game. I shall be away this weekend.

I will say this: I enjoyed the notifications that came across my watch.

He got a homer, a walk and a strikeout. Two good at bats and what I would call the Joey Gallo special. Or would it be the Joey Gallo trifecta, lol. The best part IMO was he batted last so that limits his exposure.

I thought I read somewhere that Baldelli had a meeting and that was followed by a "players only" meeting.  As a famous president once said, "I may have misremembered".

I wonder what incentives Farmer offered at the players only meeting.

Well, since he's a farmer, there's lots of choices. Maybe a threat involving steer manure to anyone who didn't start hitting?

Still too early to talk about turning the page.

Win another couple games and we can say something changed...

Well, today we can turn the page, to July. It is an incredibly long season. The Twins spent the majority of the first half trying to push back against the rule changes and win games with the three true outcomes approach. They've been blessed with good health with their top four starters and bullpen ace, making them competitive despite a woeful offense.

I think there's enough talent to be better in the second half offensively. Let's hope that some hitters make adjustments to have a more consistent offense.

Kremer for Baltimore is hardly a measuring stick for this offense. He was trending in the right direction but lapses occur and he had a game that isn't out of normal for him. 11 K's does not indicate to me anything different than what we haven't seen before. 3 HR's that lead to a win isn't anything that we haven't seen before. A 1 or 2 game offensive outburst isn't anything we haven't seen before. Let's see them sustain a productive offense for a month before we get all giddy.

But when may the giddiness start?  We fans should not ignore the opportunity for this to be the start.

I think SZ's point was that it seems some only post when there is an opportunity to complain and fall silent during periods of rejoicing. This may be true. I don't want to put words into anyone's mouth, though.

I would agree and I don’t think there is a fan on this site that wouldn’t love an 8-10 game winning streak… however what I have watched the past month is some truly uninspiring baseball from the everyday players. . One game doesn’t change much if they can’t win this series and come home and string some wins together.

It does seem to me that most everyone is swinging for the fences. Either that is coming down from above or players have figured out, that is where the money is as in "who cares about 3 out of 4 K's as long as you hit a home run every 30 at bats." I read about "launch angles" and not "hits".  I tend to be critical of the big money guys who simply do not perform. Still pulling for Kep but he exasperates me with his refusal or inability to go to the left side once in a while. Just my opinion, but I will stick in there through thick and thin.

Ooou, I’d like to read about that. Where did you see that?

Bremer basically said it during the game.

Whatever they talked about it, it sure worked.

The rooster crows, therefore the sun rises.

But, keep up the good work, batters.  We need games like that one more frequently.

Two games into July and seems like nothing have changed. A ton of lost opportunities and two runs in two games.

Don't be fooled by one good game.
