it is getting so very old...Twins just not competitive against the Yankees. It was 10-4 and even though it was close for awhile, Yanks made a joke out of it anyway. Duffey is having a pretty miserable  year, making all his bad pitches when it counts most!

both Sox and Guardians won, so in two more games (presumably losses) the Central will be up for grabs again.

Meanwhile, my AAA Red Wings, who are the class of the IL right now, were pounded by the Saints. Didn't see that one coming at all. I still miss not being affiliated with the Twins, even tho the Nats have provided us with a very good team this year...perhaps the best in decades. Saints strafed a good pitching staff for 10 runs. Needless to say, I'm not a happy camper tonite. I simply despise the Yankees.

That’s how you close out a game thread!

What's worse is NY also left 13 on base.

The Mets lead the majors in runs scored.  They also lead the majors in LOB.  High LOB in and of itself doesn't bother me in the slightest.  It means you're getting men on base in droves.

But what's Chief gonna come up with for the next two?

We need a weekly Twins haiku post/thread, all submissions accepted. Normal TD editorial policies need not apply. It's cathartic poetry after all?

I think maybe that was KirbyDome89's point

There is clearly blame there.  At this point, you cannot use Duffey against premier power hitters.  Period.

Once LeMahieu reached base, it should have been Smith.  And if not Smith, literally anyone else.  Maybe he (or any other reliever) gets beat, but at least you’re using someone that has a chance of keeping the ball down.  Duffey hangs breaking balls every single outing.

My contention is that Duffey NEVER should've been thrown into this game by his manager after what happened Sunday. There is ZERO defensible reason by Baldelli that Duffey was the "best option" available to keep the deficit at 1 run. I truly feel sorry for Duffey.  He's a professional and a competitor.  I'm sure he wanted to redeem himself after Sunday.  Any athlete worth his salt wants to prove himself.  The problem is Baldelli----regardless of the (possible---I wasnt watching) fact that he may have already been ejected---he called for Duffey to enter the game---------not Tingler.  Baldelli, for all his faults, has always protected his players.  Not tonight.  He failed miserably and should apologize to Duffey.  He didnt deserve that.

I was buttressing his opinion with an additional datapoint.

Haiku can't be forced

Like leaves from oaks and maples

Must be organic

Duffy needs a vacation.

Twins are simply not as good as the Yankees, the Dodgers, and the Astros.  (Probably not vs. the Mets, either).

Not fun to accept, but that is the reality.  We don't have the talent of these teams, not even close.

Duffey "didn't deserve" to be asked to pitch in a game?

Huh??

I mean if we are being honest....I think everyone knew that...or should have known that.  All 4 of those teams are loaded and 3 of them have over $100M more in payroll than the Twins do.

If I am counting right, the Twins currently have 10 or 11 players on the IL who would be on their 26 man roster right now, and that's not counting Lewis.  It's also about $70M in payroll, which is more than half of the team.  I know we are all tired of excuses, but....

Yes, and we shall have plenty of organic material to form haikus of lament over the next couple of days. It ought to come naturally to all Minnesota sports fans.....

And the weekly haiku is actually a cool idea....TD staff, can we get something started? Chief will need an outlet or he might end up springing a major leak!

You're disappointed they might be the 4th or 5th best team in baseball? After last season?

I've sat with Chief for 9 innings at a time.  Major leaks are already a fact of life.

Certainly this is a better team than last year, just disappointing they appear to be completely on a different level from the top teams in baseball.  The rich get richer,  Man, this league needs a real salary cap and floor like the NFL....

Yet another case of Rocco bringing in the reliever who just had a bad game to "build up his confidence," and instead the guy gets shelled.

Duffey needs to go and take Rocco with him. I've said the Twins won in spite of Rocco not because of him since day 1.
