RJA Verified Member Posted March 18, 2022 Posted March 18, 2022 Doogie Wolfson says he is an A+ person. Great. But, is there anything in his past that shows he will add real value to the Twins? I love great guys, but I love great pitchers even more.
Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted March 18, 2022 Posted March 18, 2022 C'mon, a signing like this should be cause for a celebration... of food!
LA Vikes Fan Verified Member Posted March 18, 2022 Posted March 18, 2022 Chi Chi Gonzalez! Things are so bad that we're signing old golfers now? Oh, wait, that was Chi Chi Rodriguez. Never mind... Still, he might help us more...
MMMordabito Verified Member Posted March 18, 2022 Posted March 18, 2022 If he doesn't stay in a Saints uniform, things have gone awry.
Dman Verified Member Posted March 18, 2022 Posted March 18, 2022 Chi Chi's last good year was 2015 and his K9 has never been good ever. With his 6+ Era the last 3 years I don't see him having much of an option at the MLB level. Not sure we really need that many pitchers for AAA either given the glut we have at the top. Maybe the Twins are planning on unloading a few guys in trades? Right now they have Josh Winder, Drew Strotman, Cole Sands, Devin Smeltzer, Jhoan Duran at AAA and Balazovich could also be at that level if they want him to be. At AA any of these guys could probably move up as well since they have more arms than spots at that level. Matt Canterino, Chris Vallimont, Louie Varland, Ben Gross, Kody Funderburk, Austin Schulfer, Simeon Woods-Richardson, and Ronny Henriquez. I would choose to move any the guys I just mentioned to MLB ball before Chi Chi. So not sure what the play is here just yet.

You need to read the fine print on the new CBA - there's a new playoff spot in each league for the team with the best-behaved and most well-liked players. Falvey/Levine are out there playing 3D chess, and the rest of us are just trying to keep up.
Rosterman Verified Member Posted March 18, 2022 Posted March 18, 2022 Well, at least they didn't have to add him to the 40-man. Of course, there is no more room for rotation arms at AAA or AA ball, and that is counting that Thorpe and Jax will be in the major league bullpen and Dobnak in the major league rotation. I just threw up a litle, in my mouth, excuse me. Of course, we are all excited to see what happens if the season DOES open with 28-man rosters for a month. Although you would like to see anyone designated for minor league ball (Celestino, Miranda, Lewis et al) able to open the season wherever they will be, rather than continue to play ball in Florida for the Twins main team.
Rosterman Verified Member Posted March 18, 2022 Posted March 18, 2022 What is the saying, "Nice Guys Finish Last!" Well, he maybe came to the right team.
GCTF Verified Member Posted March 18, 2022 Posted March 18, 2022 Hopefully Mr.Gonzalez plays up to par.

There will be a point this summer where Chi Chi Gonzalez is throwing passed ball after passed ball to Gary Sanchez, and suddenly 2021 won't seem so bad in our collective memories.
