well Shoemaker sucks as a starter and as a reliever. This is Twins baseball at its worst in 2021. When it really counts, the pen can;t get it done. That was way too easy.

There is no rational explanation for why Shoemaker is still on the team. He was truly awful as a starter and has now proven to be truly awful out of the bullpen.

I guess they could be waiting until he gets 10 losses (tonight looks like number 8).

I just can't wrap my head around bringing Shoemaker into a close game like. He's been legitimately the worst starter in baseball, so you "demote" him by having him pitch in a high leverage situation? WTF?!

Shoemaker has the sort of versatility you look for in a swing man... equally adept at eliminating your team's chance to compete early on, or destroying all their earlier efforts with a late-inning implosion.

It's 3d chess, Rocco is Spock, and we're the bratty kid without a clue what Spocko is doing... except we don't have the scary mind powers to avenge the loss by melting Matt Shoemaker.

I mean, if the Twins are truly cooked, and this isn't just a retool, then tonight is exactly what you would want.  Cruz, Sano, and especially Donaldson upped their trade value, Shoemaker continues to make it clear you can consider him dead weight and jettison him for an unproven guy, and we get the loss for draft position.
