insagt1 Verified Member Posted June 12, 2021 Posted June 12, 2021 well Shoemaker sucks as a starter and as a reliever. This is Twins baseball at its worst in 2021. When it really counts, the pen can;t get it done. That was way too easy.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2021 Posted June 12, 2021 Rocco is just the worst. Just the worst.
twins_89 Verified Member Posted June 12, 2021 Posted June 12, 2021 There is no rational explanation for why Shoemaker is still on the team. He was truly awful as a starter and has now proven to be truly awful out of the bullpen. I guess they could be waiting until he gets 10 losses (tonight looks like number 8).
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2021 Posted June 12, 2021 I just can't wrap my head around bringing Shoemaker into a close game like. He's been legitimately the worst starter in baseball, so you "demote" him by having him pitch in a high leverage situation? WTF?!

USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted June 12, 2021 Posted June 12, 2021 The Twins are really good at manufacturing runs. ... While they're playing defense.

mrtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2021 Posted June 12, 2021 Shoemaker,= Rocco pleez explain

LaBombo Verified Member Posted June 12, 2021 Posted June 12, 2021 Dick speculates that the inflatable trash can is meant to lampoon Houston's cheaty 2017 shenanigans. But he's just being polite, because it's actually the between-games carrying case for Shoemaker.
insagt1 Verified Member Posted June 12, 2021 Posted June 12, 2021 Quote Gift wrapped this one. What a miserable show in the 9th by Shoemaker.

HokieRif Verified Member Posted June 12, 2021 Posted June 12, 2021 why? Why? WHY IS SHOEMAKER STILL EMPLOYED?!?!?

It's a great play if your team can execute it.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted June 12, 2021 Posted June 12, 2021 Shoemaker has the sort of versatility you look for in a swing man... equally adept at eliminating your team's chance to compete early on, or destroying all their earlier efforts with a late-inning implosion.
twins_89 Verified Member Posted June 12, 2021 Posted June 12, 2021 Using Shoemaker in a high leverage situation makes me seriously wonder if the Twins are actively trying to lose games.
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2021 Posted June 12, 2021 And Rogers got 3 pitches and one batter......
singlesoverwalks Verified Member Posted June 12, 2021 Posted June 12, 2021 Freaking brilliant, Rocco. Galaxy brain-level bullpen management.

It's 3d chess, Rocco is Spock, and we're the bratty kid without a clue what Spocko is doing... except we don't have the scary mind powers to avenge the loss by melting Matt Shoemaker.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted June 12, 2021 Posted June 12, 2021 Really making sure they get their $2M out of Shoemaker, ain't they? You don't hand a guy a contract like that and just jettison him while there's still a few ****shows still paid for in advance.
AceWrigley Verified Member Posted June 12, 2021 Posted June 12, 2021 Effective bullpen management this year includes an asbestos suit and a fire extinguisher.

I mean, if the Twins are truly cooked, and this isn't just a retool, then tonight is exactly what you would want. Cruz, Sano, and especially Donaldson upped their trade value, Shoemaker continues to make it clear you can consider him dead weight and jettison him for an unproven guy, and we get the loss for draft position.
AceWrigley Verified Member Posted June 12, 2021 Posted June 12, 2021 Maybe Pressly can do an Aroldis Chapman imitation?
gil4 Verified Member Posted June 12, 2021 Posted June 12, 2021 Jeffers strikes out. That's how last night's comeback started.
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2021 Posted June 12, 2021 Jeffers closed his eyes on strike three swinging. Really hard to hit it with your eyes closed.
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2021 Posted June 12, 2021 Dick is gonna really wear out last night's ending.
