jun Verified Member Posted June 10, 2021 Posted June 10, 2021 I was about to say Dobnak set up nicely for Stanton's 2nd Homer with an easy & quick 5 pitch walk to Torres when that actually happened. I was almost speechless. Dobnak is not a major league pitcher period. There is no question about that. Why on earth the FO gave this unproven guy millions?
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2021 Posted June 10, 2021 Holy cow... 11 hits, 5 HRs, 3 walks... and 0 strikeouts. It doesn't get much worse than that! Unless you're Matt Shoemaker.
AceWrigley Verified Member Posted June 10, 2021 Posted June 10, 2021 And Jax in after tossing 23 pitches last night. Hmmm.

I’m not a Baseball Savant savant, and would appreciate someone that is to satisfy my curiosity. That revamped slider tamed a couple of those dingers keeping them in the city limits. Otherwise they may have killed a few people in Duluth.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2021 Posted June 10, 2021 The good news is that Dobnak still has 3 options remaining, so stashing him in the minors will be an option for quite awhile. And now for Jax to serve up more batting practice, before getting sent down to AAA.

Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2021 Posted June 10, 2021 Seriously, what do you do with a guy who is this bad when you have so many years left? I mean, I know what an actual winning club would do, but what will the twins do?

AceWrigley Verified Member Posted June 10, 2021 Posted June 10, 2021 And Jax lowers his ERA from 27.00 to 20.25, and this against the Yankees. Progress.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2021 Posted June 10, 2021 This year’s team actually makes me angry to a point where I dislike them. Never happened before.

What you do is wait until Wes Johnson and the rest of the organization figure out how to magically improve pitchers again like in 2018 and 2019. If that doesn't happen, well, burning $8M on Dobnak is going to be a small issue compared to the complete inability to field a MLB-caliber pitching staff.
Taildragger8791 Verified Member Posted June 10, 2021 Posted June 10, 2021 This series is serving as a reality check to anyone who was still harboring thoughts that this team isn't a total dumpster fire in need of a rebuild.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2021 Posted June 10, 2021 You know anger and apathy is kicking in when there isn’t one Sano! post after his HR several minutes ago.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2021 Posted June 10, 2021 Truly awful. I'm really doubting they know anything about pitching.
SanoMustGo Verified Member Posted June 10, 2021 Posted June 10, 2021 In the year of the strikeout, Twins pitching 0 strikeouts, 30 Yankee plate appearances

Yup, not even a grumble about 'garbage time'. Since somebody already brought up MP & the Holy Grail... "Oh, what sad times are these..."

glunn Community Moderator Posted June 10, 2021 Posted June 10, 2021 I have stopped watching the games in order to preserve my mental health. That's working for me so far.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2021 Posted June 10, 2021 Juuuuuust a bit outside on that throw to home plate from Celestino.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted June 10, 2021 Posted June 10, 2021 Dick straying farther into self-parody as a throw pinballs around the backstop: "Celestino showing off his arm strength, if not his accuracy".
