Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2021 Posted April 28, 2021 I can’t take the commentary...let’s compare these guys to the 2019 nationals. Haven’t won a playoff game since the bush administration and we’re making comparisons to world champs

Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2021 Posted April 28, 2021 Mute your TV thenIt’s bas enough I’m masochist enough to watch this, it would be downright sad to watch in silence
twinbythebay Verified Member Posted April 28, 2021 Posted April 28, 2021 The one thing we are far and away best at this year is letting inherited runners scoreThis had me curious, so I looked it up... The Twins are indeed the worst team in baseball (by a wide margin) at preventing inherited runners from scoring. Counting tonight's game, Twins relievers have allowed 63%(!) of all inherited runners to score. The next highest team is the Reds, at 53%, and the league average is 33%.

sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted April 28, 2021 Posted April 28, 2021 Keep the Clevelanders from scoring! Fielding (clap, clap) fielding!
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2021 Posted April 28, 2021 Are we actually this bad?Maybe not. Are we capable of going on a red hot stretch of baseball, playing like a 100 win team for weeks at a time before July? That’s the hole we’re digging with this horrific month of baseball.

I'm currently reading Ball Four by Jim Bouton, and I just read this passage last night so it's fresh in my brain.
MMMordabito Verified Member Posted April 28, 2021 Posted April 28, 2021 Does Stashak need a med check? He looks unhappy, uncomfortable and unlike what we've seen.
Cap'n Piranha Verified Member Posted April 28, 2021 Posted April 28, 2021 Maybe not. Are we capable of going on a red hot stretch of baseball, playing like a 100 win team for weeks at a time before July? That’s the hole we’re digging with this horrific month of baseball. There's approximately 54 games in every 2 months, and 100 win pace means you go 33-21. Assuming we lose this one, but then start that type of streak tomorrow, our record would be 40-36. That's 85 win pace, which probably doesn't make the playoffs. That's the problem with all the "it's still April talk". The Twins now have to play half the season at 100 win pace just to be a 90 win team at this point, and then play the rest of the season at 90 win pace. What so far this season has suggested this roster is capable of 90 win pace for any length of time, let alone 100 win pace?

Danchat Verified Member Posted April 28, 2021 Posted April 28, 2021 Stashak must be injuredI think he is, the guy here with the Elmo avatar said Stashak looked like he was pitching hurt a couple days ago and he's pretty reliable with his analysis.
Cap'n Piranha Verified Member Posted April 28, 2021 Posted April 28, 2021 Man, even Arraez is pressing now. That's not the kind of pitch Arraez would typically swing at.
cHawk Community Moderator Posted April 28, 2021 Posted April 28, 2021 Arraez 0-4. He should not be batting leadoff
wavedog Verified Member Posted April 28, 2021 Posted April 28, 2021 A starter still going strong in the 8th inning.
LVTwinsfan Verified Member Posted April 28, 2021 Posted April 28, 2021 Arraez 0-4. He should not be batting leadoffone bad day at the plate... who then
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2021 Posted April 28, 2021 Buxton boosting that trade value!
Cap'n Piranha Verified Member Posted April 28, 2021 Posted April 28, 2021 There are 199 qualified relievers in MLB. 3 of the 4 worst in terms of LOB% are Twins (Colome at 22.7%, Robles at 25%, and Dobnak at 30.3%). Rogers is at 88.9%, which is 56th (top 30%). Rogers is not the problem in this bullpen right now, but everyone else is.
AceWrigley Verified Member Posted April 28, 2021 Posted April 28, 2021 Rocco would have pulled Civale 2 innings ago.
