I’m far from being on the bandwagon but if he’s even moderately capable with the bat, he’s a pretty great 26th man.

That's really the ideal role for him, in my view. He can play many positions and doesn't need to play every day.

Watching Happ pitch is sort of like having a dull toothache. Unpleasant, but you sort of just put up with it.

I haven't watched (listening on the radio) Happ pitch yet. What is unpleasant, the delivery? pace? his stuff? Control?

Yes.

I don't know, I am really not comfortable watching Happ pitch. He may have been pretty successful with it but Happ pounding the edges of the zone with countless 90 mph fastballs feels like a disaster waiting to happen.

He’s also a really nice PH option you can slot someplace on the field very easily afterward.

I don't think much of his glovework, but that is true and it is an asset.

I'd much rather have him as the 26th man instead of a rookie, that is for sure.

Since Hostess went bankrupt, The new Twinkies are nowhere near as good as the old ones.

I bet they're "healthier" too!

A tragedy of epic proportions...

Oh, his glovework is pretty crap but if you’re at the end of a bench, it’s not like you can PH Rooker for, say, Simmons. Or a catcher.

But because Astudillo can play a half-assed second or third, you can PH him for almost anyone in any situation; sure the defensive alignment takes a hit afterward but that beats not being able to do it at all.

When Chief tells it on a Game Thread?

Sorry...incorrect. Although perhaps better than the actual answer.

After a pregnant pause*?

(not to be confused with pas or pa's)

Sorry...incorrect. Although perhaps better than the actual answer.

That's not a high bar to cross, but a pretty low bar to go under

On another note...anyone watching the Detroit telecast on MLB Network?

The Detroit announcers are possible the dryest, most enthusiasm-free team in the history of televised sport.

Morneau is Robin Williams by comparison.
