Squirrel Community Moderator Posted August 4, 2020 Posted August 4, 2020 Well, that was a lucky out on poor baserunning decision
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted August 4, 2020 Author Posted August 4, 2020 Don't run on Twins' left fielders!
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 4, 2020 Posted August 4, 2020 Cave with the assist, though i would credit the runner witb a poor choice...
operation mindcrime Verified Member Posted August 4, 2020 Posted August 4, 2020 Didn't Derek Holland used to do a Harry Caray impersonation as a Texas Ranger?
bighat Verified Member Posted August 4, 2020 Posted August 4, 2020 Didn't Derek Holland used to do a Harry Caray impersonation as a Texas Ranger? Very good impression.
ashbury Verified Member Posted August 4, 2020 Posted August 4, 2020 though i would credit the runner witb a poor choice...We need to ask Stew Thornley how this gets written in the score book.
Circus Boy Verified Member Posted August 4, 2020 Posted August 4, 2020 "Batting practice pitch," sez Mrs Ash, always an astute observer. 1-0 after one pitch - your Circus Boy Update.Circus Boy grateful.
operation mindcrime Verified Member Posted August 4, 2020 Posted August 4, 2020 Very good impression. Thanks for posting this! \m/
PDX Twin Verified Member Posted August 4, 2020 Posted August 4, 2020 If our pitchers are only going to pitch a couple of innings anyway, we could use the DH for Buxton and pinch hit for the pitcher every time.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 4, 2020 Posted August 4, 2020 Lewis Thorpe is still badTheir leadoff hitter has seen two pitches in two innings. My bad. Slow to get back to see the game. Fully confident we can dig ojr way out of this hole.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted August 4, 2020 Author Posted August 4, 2020 Those 3 innings were not fun to watch
blindeke Verified Member Posted August 4, 2020 Posted August 4, 2020 Holland looks a lot like Kuechel out there to me. The Twins seem to have an achilles heel.
AlwaysinModeration Verified Member Posted August 4, 2020 Posted August 4, 2020 Also, Lewis Thorpe is growing one helluva mullet.
PDX Twin Verified Member Posted August 4, 2020 Posted August 4, 2020 Those 3 innings were not fun to watch But they were quick! 45 minutes for three innings = less than 3-hour game.
ashbury Verified Member Posted August 4, 2020 Posted August 4, 2020 Circus Boy grateful.Circus Boy redundant.

sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 4, 2020 Posted August 4, 2020 Circus Boy redundant. "In stereo" (Sentence structure approved.)
Circus Boy Verified Member Posted August 4, 2020 Posted August 4, 2020 The Pirates pitcher is a native of Newark, Ohio. When I lived in that fine state, one of the first things I was told that it's a single syllable, pronounced Nerk. That is all.
LVTwinsfan Verified Member Posted August 4, 2020 Posted August 4, 2020 Nothing like some good old Twins pitching to correct a teams hitting woes.
Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted August 4, 2020 Posted August 4, 2020 The Pirates pitcher is a native of Newark, Ohio. When I lived in that fine state, one of the first things I was told that it's a single syllable, pronounced Nerk. That is all.One time during my 4 years at Ohio State I was with some friends at a bar. This would have been about 1983 or 1984. Someone walked by with a t-shirt that had this on the front of it: NERKAHIA We saw it and looked among ourselves with puzzled looks until one guy started laughing, and he said, "Nerk, Ahia!" We had to hear it out loud to get it.
Hawkeye12 Verified Member Posted August 4, 2020 Posted August 4, 2020 When is the last time a Twin walked four guys in one inning? Liriano probably did it at some point. That was a Phil Hughes or Carlos Silva season's worth.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 4, 2020 Posted August 4, 2020 Hey look! It's our turn to bat! All said and done, more than 1 run coulda easily been scored there...

That was a Phil Hughes or Carlos Silva season's worth.Very efficient four walk inning, only one run. Whole lot of game left, whole lotta Buxton hits left...
Diesel Verified Member Posted August 4, 2020 Posted August 4, 2020 I will be happy when Odo, Bailey, Hill, and Pineda are also in the mix to end the season. That is all
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 4, 2020 Posted August 4, 2020 When is the last time a Twin walked four guys in one inning? Liriano probably did it at some point. That was a Phil Hughes or Carlos Silva season's worth.Pretty sure Lewis Thorpe did it this inning.
bighat Verified Member Posted August 4, 2020 Posted August 4, 2020 Twins gonna learn pretty quick that you can't face major league teams with minor league pitchers and expect to win, no matter how good your offense is. What has Lewis Thorpe ever done to make anyone believe he's nothing more than a mop-up guy at best?
ashbury Verified Member Posted August 4, 2020 Posted August 4, 2020 whole lotta Buxton hits left...That may require extra innings.
ashbury Verified Member Posted August 4, 2020 Posted August 4, 2020 Pretty sure Lewis Thorpe did it this inning.Probably won't be the last time, either.
