diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 More efficient... Dobnak might make it through 5.... Now let's get some runs!
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 It’s also true that this Yankees team won more games than we did. In fact, that has been true historically when we meet in the playoffs.People seem to forget that underdogs don’t usually win. So we think there’s something supernatural about how we lose to the Yankees, rather than admit that they field more talented teams than we do.I still prefer being the underdog. We can still overcome the odds and win.I refuse to believe there isn’t any psychological factor to this. Impossible to quantify but it’s there. I would have rathered faced the Astros. They’re even better than the Yankees IMO but I would like the twins chances to at least win a game there.
NorthwestTwinsFan Provisional Member Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 This is a team that won a 101 games this year. The FO obviously did something right. Yeah, the Yankees have been the Twins kryptonite, but, this team won the division when it wasn't expected to. I don't like the results of the matchups against the Yankees, but, still, 101 wins. Good grief.Exactly! This season has probably been the most fun I ever remember watching baseball. They're off to a bad start this series, but how about a little perspective. Not many expected them to make it this far.
FlauerPauer Verified Member Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 Nice job, Dobnak. Let's develop some patience and start taking good at bats!
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 Gregorious might be top 3 in my most hated Yankees currently. He's 4th for me, my top 3 are. 1. Gardner2. Gardner3. Gardner

The team with the most regular season wins at the end of the season doesn't get the WS title.

mrtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 At some point, our guys are going to realize that Tanaka is throwing nothing but junk. You would hope, problem is he throws less fastballs than ANY other starter, till they realize that- gonna look like that Sano ab

So we think there’s something supernatural about how we lose to the Yankees, rather than admit that they field more talented teams than we do.I still prefer being the underdog. We can still overcome the odds and win.The other thing people are forgetting is this team survived an incredible rash of injuries. In fact, this team had injuries to the depth that was filling in for injured players. Yeah, I wish the team had some better pitching, but, this team made the playoffs, which automatically gives them a chance. No playoffs, no chance. Pretty simple, actually.
Brian450 Verified Member Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 Dobnak has the "right stuff". 1.) No situation is too overwhelming for him. 2.) He can execute pitches under duress; and3.). Let's not forget: He's got good stuff! Good movement, good velocity and nasty slider... I'm impressed and continue to be impressed...

I agree on the psychological factor, but I gotta disagree on rather facing the Astros. Yankees pitching is nothing special. Houstons pitching is an ace every single night. Granted, we suck against the Yankees but even still.

Once Boston finally beat the Yankees, they went and won 4 titles. This is assuming there is a mental block in the first place, which is a dangerous thing to expose to the Yankees. Because they are going to exploit that.

The team with the most regular season wins at the end of the season doesn't get the WS title.Fair enough, but, people are laying a lot of blame on the FO when the team won 101 games. They are in the playoffs, having wildly exceeded expectations. Frankly, I'm tired of all the carping about how the FO should have done this, or, should have done that, rather than just enjoying the fact this has been a year to remember, no matter how things wind up.
