A playoff bullpen of Rogers, May, Duffey, Graterol, Littell, Romo, and Stashak is looking like it could hold up quite well based on recent performances by each of them. Very good sign.

Just blown away by what we saw today. Pitching in Game 1. Hitting in Game 2. 

 

Undermanned and patching things together with bubble gum and duct tape, but they did it. Hats off.

A most improbable finish to a very satisfying day for the Minnesota Twins...sweeping a DH and ensuring a series win. 5 1/2 game lead with 14 to play.

 

Looking for heros? I guess Polanco would be a big one. Sano of course in game two. And almost all the pitchers. Thorpe struggled but everyone else did his job.

 

This turned out to be a character building day for a team that was scuffling. they found ways to win.

Watching Kepler bat....he still looks hurt and we might not see him tomorrow. If we get the good Berrios tomorrow, we'll really be in business.

 

283 HR's...lost track of how many the Yankees have hit.

If we sweep tomorrow, we really need to rest guys and get some guys healthy.  Kepler is not right, Cruz is needs a rest.  Cron is battling thru injury.  Tomorrow's game is a must must must win for Cleveland and Bieber should shut us down, but...it's baseball and you just never know.

The slam by Sano in their stadium counteracts the Santana slam in Target Field on Aug. 11. Now get after it tomorrow, boys, and sweep Cleveland out the door.

I think Sano has 5 of the 10 most important HRs on the Season (from a Twins Daily article a few weeks ago), and counting this massive blast.  So, a question.....Can we just kill the Negative Nancy crapola as it relates to Sano, Rosario, and other targets on this board?  Some of these guys are/were hurt.  Some are still pretty young.  Some have had their weaknesses figured out for now, and need to adjust.  Some are just fatigued around game 150.  I have said it before - baseball is HARD.  I know from experience, and football and hockey have less failure, if you are an All-Star with success 1/3 of the time.  Do we agree?  We are on this train with the passengers we have.  Just not sure we have enough in the pitchers car.

Baseball is played everyday. For the true fans, it is always an emotional roller coaster. So its fine to speak out when a player is going well and when he's not. thats the whole fan thing. I see so many at ballparks nowadays with heads buried in cell phones or not paying attention at all to the play on the field. Its sad. Come September (August in the I.L.) the real baseball fans live and die with each pitch.

These guys get paid pretty well so I don't particularly feel 'sorry' for them if they start getting tired in September. Its their job. With a few exceptions everyone who is a fan of the team wants them to win first and foremost. So a little passion whether positive or negative is what being a fan is all about. Its all good...as long as it doesn't get personal.

Except the Yankees though. Astros and Dodgers also have some big guns. Playoff is quite different.
