Here's Cleveland's magic number today: 29.

 

If you combine it with your imaginary magic number, 29+sqrt(-256) gets pretty complex.

Or Byron Buxton who once hit a home run and was rounding 2nd by the time the fans heard the crack of the back.   The shortstop said something nasty as he went by so he slapped the third baseman on the catcher's mouth.

After tonights game the Twins Magic Number should feel like this to Clevelander's

 

I hope no players suffer chronic pain that never entirely resolves (Wikipedia's telling) due to our series with them.

He had a serious knee injury caused by Hal McRae. McRae had a reputation as a hothead and a dirty player and he also had several situations when he managed which were consistent with that. I don't remember the year, but I know it was very near the end of the season, when McRae was trying to score and Borgmann was fielding the throw to make the tag. McRae came in "sliding", more or less. His foot was planted squarely on the side of Borgmann's knee, and there is no doubt in my mind that it was intent to injure first, and intent to score second. I know this is off topic but this memory is triggered by any mention of Borgmann.

Thank you for this!  McRae was always my least favorite player.  Also sorry about the off-topic.
