SwainZag Community Moderator Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 I tend to agree, but I'd rather have one than not. Your margin for error is a bit larger with one than without. I realize that that isn't what you're arguing. Kershaw hasn't helped his own cause in many a playoff series though either. The ace still has to perform. Obviously I'd rather have one than not as well. I just hate the "we can't compete without one" attitude.
VATwinsFan Verified Member Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 Given it's been bad inning-good inning-bad inning-good inning, is it a good idea to bring Perez out again?
SwainZag Community Moderator Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 Look at any world series winner. Find one where they didn't have a shutdown guy to lead them in the rotation. On their roster or actually pitched like a shut down ace in the playoffs and world series? Kershaw certainly led the Dodgers rotation last year.....then went 0-2 in the World Series with an ERA near 8.

IndyTwinsFan Verified Member Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 Expecting a short outing from Perez...hope I'm wrong!Length of the outing is questionable. However, the quality, as has been the case most recent times with Perez, left a while lot to be desired. Could see that kind of outing coming a mile away.
Dozier's Glorious Hair Verified Member Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 I'll take Berrios over 2015 Edison Volquez. Exactly what I was thinking, Indy.

crapforks Provisional Member Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 Perez is really struggling. Maybe some time as a low-leverage long reliever could come in handy? May was barely used and looked good when he came back out. Maybe he was working on something behind the scenes? If that’s the case, I wouldn’t mind seeing Perez receive that treatment.
Cap'n Piranha Verified Member Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 Perez completes 5 innings, 3 of which were scoreless. Brian Fantana, your thoughts? http://www.quickmeme.com/img/ed/eddd639ecae8a1466b5cb7ca38e47f20f48d3bb2b47439be5fba6919b90c3429.jpg
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 Not sure what kind of voodoo magic Perez was using in April but he could use some of that again. That option next season doesn't look appealing anymore.

wavedog Verified Member Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 Schoopie in a key spot let's deliver
wavedog Verified Member Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 Oh my goodness that was not pretty
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 Imagine ever playing schoop was arraez is on the roster
Darius Verified Member Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 MLBTradeRumors reporting that GM's office is talking about bringing up Graterol.I’ll eat my hat if they bring him up after missing most the year with an injury. We’ll see. I see it as lip service intentionally broadcasted by the FO. When had a team ever come out and given a time frame for a prospect call/up? Especially a Twins FO. It’s a CYA maneuver for the pitching staff going down like the Hindenburg because they made no moves in the offseason and no good ones at the deadline. They have to make it sound they had a plan all along. Hope I’m wrong. But I need to be proven otherwise before I’ll believe anything like this from the Twins.
Darius Verified Member Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 Well, we just punted on this game by letting Schoop flail around in the batters box there. He needs to go.
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 Holy hell Schoop, that was 2 feet off the plate. Arraez doesn't hack at any of those, lefty or not he needs to be in the lineup.
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 Can't be late on that pitch Mitch....
FlauerPauer Verified Member Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 Twins playing piss poor baseball the past two games. Better get the ship righted for tomorrow's big series.
SwainZag Community Moderator Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 Well, we just punted on this game by letting Schoop flail around in the batters box there. He needs to go. What about last inning when Eddie struck out on a pitch not even the catcher could get to? There have been some horrible AB's this game.
jz7233 Provisional Member Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 Schoopie in a key spot let's deliver What do you expect? He never delivers. It's almost guaranteed.
SwainZag Community Moderator Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 Our only saving grace is going to be if somehow the Indians somehow get swept today. What happened to this FO being genius when it come to pitching? Im starting to think it was just a product of Falvey being associated with Cleveland (as we speak, Plesac is throwing a shutout is nearly pushing his ERA below 3.00 - we can’t even get Berrios, with the most electric stuff in the planet, to do that when we need a win). Berrios has been pretty damn good over the last 2 months. Pleasac is throwing well today, but for the season his FIP is over 5. Once you start comparing 1 game sample sizes you are going to have a bad time.
VATwinsFan Verified Member Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 Twins' front office strikes again -- Drew Hutchison to the Angles for you know what kind of considerations.
