fair enough. lets go back to june 1:

3-1 @ tampa

1-2 @ cleveland

1-2 vs boston

2-1 vs tampa

1-2 @ oakland

2-1 vs texas

2-1 @ cleveland

0-2 vs the mets (over .500 now)

2-2 vs oakland

1-2 vs the yankees

looking like 1-2 vs the braves. total would be 16-18. not terrible, just been a bit of a struggle in the last month, especially at home for some reason

And the records against above .500 teams for the Yankees, Astros, Indians, and A's in that same timeframe is?

hey I'm at work here! gotta look busy!

I'd consider a DFA at this point. The smoke and mirrors are gone.

I'm with you Mike. There's nothing in Perez' recent history that suggests his early season surge was anything BUT blind luck. He's a borderline MLB athlete at this point and should be put in the "Hector Santiago Category" of being a roster filler on a rebuilding club. Guy doesn't belong anywhere near a contending team's roster.

I'm not sure what else you do. This one is close to gone and you don't want to burn out the BP right before 4 with Cleveland. I think Perez gets another inning or 2.

Throw Stewart out there for as long as he can go then replace him with someone from Rochester/Pensacola.

So tired of the 5-4-3 triple plays.

Gimme one of those 3-8-7-2-4-7-1-4-5 triple plays, whydontcha!

Seems as though they've got the 5-4-3 triple plays mastered. Time to move up a notch and record one of them fancy unassisted triple plays, I say.

Won't be as a starter

Yeah but Smelzer is - put Smelzer into the rotation for Perez, Gatreol to the 'pen, Perez to the unemployment line.

Can't be too many pitchers in baseball that have had two triple plays turned in behind them.

I hope our baseball team gets a hit today.

Fried is dealing.

I see you've lowered your expectations.

Don't know....but the Yankees are 34-22 against +500 teams overall. And the Astros are 41-26. (The Twins apparently on their way to 26-28.) So, in a way...about what could have been reasonably expected before the season started. The A's being maybe better than expected...as usual (33-27 against +500), and the Red Sox being worse.

It's his mess. Let him stew in it.

Over his last 11 starts (not counting today), Perez has thrown 58 innings and given up 40 ER. 6.21 ERA. It might be time for a change. 11 starts is not insignificant.

I don't think anyone is arguing against this point. I just needed some data to look at.

Great, it's gotten to the point my heart is in my throat every time I see an Atlanta player swing at a Perez pitch.

Since when did weathermen care about accurate data? :)

Meanwhile over in Cleveland, it's 0-0 bottom of the 4th with Cleveland doing as poorly as the Twins are batting wise, but just a little bit better pitching wise.

Nearly all of the time.

In fact, these umps should call the game quickly before someone gets hurt in all the rain.

Twins really need a Johan Santana-like starter if they really want to compete for a championship. Berrios is good, but I just don't see him as a shut down guy like the Astros have in Verlander or the Dodgers have in Kershaw. I'm praying Graterol is that guy for us next year.

I am remembering correctly that you did that cool article on forecasts and expected weather conditions opening day, right?
